To ensure quality compliance in hydro tunnel construction activities through effective inspection, testing, documentation, and implementation of approved Quality Assurance/Quality Control procedures, specifications, drawings, and applicable standards.

Role & responsibilities

- Supervise and monitor quality control activities for hydro tunnel construction, including excavation, drilling & blasting, mucking, rock support, shotcreting, grouting, concreting, and associated works.
- Ensure construction activities are carried out as per approved drawings, method statements, ITPs, technical specifications, and quality standards.
- Inspect tunnel excavation profiles, geological conditions, rock classification, and support systems in coordination with the construction and geology teams.
- Monitor and inspect rock bolting, wire mesh, steel ribs, lattice girders, shotcrete, forepoling, rock anchors, and other tunnel support systems.
- Conduct quality checks for RCC/Concrete works, including reinforcement, formwork, embedded items, concrete placement, curing, and finishing.
- Monitor grouting activities, including consolidation grouting, contact grouting, curtain grouting, drilling parameters, grout mix, pressure, and grouting records.
- Ensure timely inspection and testing of construction materials, including cement, aggregates, admixtures, reinforcement steel, concrete, grout, and other approved materials.
- Coordinate with the laboratory team for material testing and field quality tests, and review test results for compliance.
- Prepare and maintain Inspection Requests (IR), Inspection & Test Plans (ITP), checklists, test reports, NCRs, quality records, and other QA/QC documentation.




- Identify quality deviations and initiate NCRs / corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) wherever required.
- Coordinate with the construction, planning, geology, survey, engineering, and client/consultant teams for timely resolution of quality-related issues.
- Ensure proper calibration and availability of testing and measuring equipment.
- Participate in internal, client, consultant, and third-party quality audits and inspections.
- Maintain complete and accurate quality documentation and records for project handover and as-built requirements.
- Monitor compliance with applicable IS Codes, IRC/CPWD specifications where applicable, project specifications, approved drawings, and international standards relevant to tunnel and hydro construction.
- Provide technical guidance to junior engineers, supervisors, and site teams on quality requirements and inspection procedures.
- Ensure strict compliance with project QA/QC procedures, HSE requirements, and company policies.

Experience

- BE or Diploma in Civil 36 years of relevant experience in Quality Control/Quality Assurance, preferably in Hydropower, Hydro Tunnel, Underground Construction, or Major Infrastructure Projects.
- Candidates with solid hands-on experience in NATM / hydro tunnel construction and quality control will be preferred.

Preferred Candidate Profile
- Experience in hydro tunnel / underground works with exposure to challenging geological conditions.
- Experience working on large infrastructure or hydropower projects with EPC contractor / client / consultant environments.
- Strong site execution and inspection skills with the ability to independently handle quality-related activities.
- Willingness to work at a remote project site in Arunachal Pradesh.
