About THG Ingenuity
THG Ingenuity is a fully integrated digital commerce ecosystem designed to power brands without limits. Our global end-to-end technology platform is comprised of three products: THG Commerce, THG Studios, and THG Fulfilment. Each represents a single, unified solution, overcoming challenges and taking brands direct-to-consumer.
Our client portfolio includes globally recognised brands such as Coca-Cola, Nestle, Elemis, Homebase, and Proctor & Gamble. Technology is the driving force behind THG Ingenuity, and it starts with our people. We are ambitious with our goals and challenge conventional thinking.
THG Ingenuity is different because we support every person to make a meaningful impact and drive their own work. Our people are always learning, and we work every day to ensure our technology, from our software platforms to our hosting services, to our AI capability and beyond, is world-class. This enables us to keep powering THG Ingenuity and our partners on a global scale.
The Opportunity
Our checkout and payments capability is genuinely industry-leading. It processes at serious scale for some of the world's best-known brands, converts at a level we are proud of, and handles the parts most platforms avoid — multi-PSP orchestration, fraud and chargeback management, cross-border complexity, marketplace, and subscription flows. That performance is hard-won, and protecting it is half of this job.
The other half is turning that strength into products in their own right. Much of what we have built for our own clients is strong enough to be sold on its own merits to businesses that are not on the Ingenuity platform at all. Checkout-as-a-Service and Merchant of Record are the clearest examples: launched in January 2026, live with real merchants across five MoR models spanning domestic, cross-border, marketplace, and PSP white-label.
Today, this is still a managed service that our team configures and operates. Turning that into something a merchant can configure and launch largely themselves is the flagship piece of work. But the same question applies right across the area, and part of the role is deciding where else it holds.
And the ground is moving. Agents are beginning to buy on behalf of customers, which changes assumptions the whole industry has built checkout on — how a purchase is authenticated when there is no human at the screen, what fraud signals mean when the buyer is software, how liability and Merchant of Record models work when an agent is transacting on someone's behalf, and what a checkout experience even is when nobody is looking at it. We do not think anyone has this fully worked out yet.
We want someone who will actively go and find out, and who sees the chance to shape it rather than react to it.
It is an unusual but exciting combination: a live, high-performing product with real revenue to protect, a genuine product-building challenge in front of it, and a part of the industry that is about to change shape.
Where the Role Sits
You will own the Checkout & Payments domain, which sits within our Fintech engineering area alongside Delivery & Returns. Product at THG Commerce runs as five customer-journey domains, each a delivery trio of product, UX, and engineering; you will be the product lead for this one, working with a dedicated squad structure and an embedded designer.
You will be part of the senior product group that sets strategy for the commerce platform as a whole — the roadmap you own has dependencies running through discovery, loyalty, and fulfilment, and you will be in the room where those trade-offs get made.
This is also the first product role in our Pune office. Your domain stakeholders and the commercial team are in the UK, so strong communication in all forms is essential to ensure the handover of information is smooth and clear. You will help shape how product works in that office from the beginning.
There is no line management in this role at the moment. Your influence comes from depth of expertise, clarity of thinking, and the trust you build with engineering, commercial, finance, legal, and our merchants.
What You'll Own
- Checkout performance: Conversion and payment success across every market and channel. This is a live, high-performing product for major brands, and keeping it there comes before anything new.
- The payment stack: Multi-PSP orchestration and routing, authorisation rates, payment method breadth and mix, tokenisation, and genuinely localised checkout experiences market by market — including the economics of all of it.
- Fraud, risk and disputes: Fraud strategy and tooling, the balance between fraud loss, false positives and customer friction, and chargeback and dispute management. You own where that balance sits and the argument for it.
- Merchant of Record and cross-border: Our five live MoR models, the liability and compliance implications of each, market and acquiring coverage, and the tax, regulatory, and consumer protection obligations that come with operating across borders.
- Productisation: Turning managed capabilities into products that stand on their own — self-serve configuration, onboarding, developer experience, packaging, and the standards a third party will hold us to. Checkout-as-a-Service is the flagship, but the question applies more widely.
- Subscriptions and recurring revenue: Subscription models operating natively within MoR and checkout, and the flexibility, billing, and retention mechanics behind them.
- Money movement: Settlement, payout, reconciliation, and FX — the parts cross-border merchants will not buy without and will not forgive us for getting wrong.
- Agentic commerce: Working out what agent-led buying does to checkout, payments, fraud, and Merchant of Record, and turning that into experiments and roadmap where it earns its place.
How You'll Work
- In close partnership with engineering, UX, commercial, trading, finance, legal, and data science — leading complex programmes across multiple squads, external partners, and third-party integrations.
- Alongside the commercial team, who own the route to market. They run the sales motion; you supply the product, the positioning, and the technical credibility — and join the conversation when the questions get deep.
- As the domain expert in client-facing conversations, with brands that will test how well you know your subject.
- Against metrics you define and own: checkout conversion and payment success, authorisation rates, payment method mix, cost per transaction, fraud loss and false positives,
chargeback rates, settlement accuracy, subscription retention, and merchant NPS.
About You
- You have significant hands-on product experience across checkout, payments, Merchant of Record, cross-border commerce, or commerce infrastructure — in payments or cross-border specialists, a marketplace, a PSP or orchestrator, or a large-scale platform. We care more about the depth and breadth of what you have owned than the number of years.
- You have genuine breadth across the domain. You can move between checkout UX, routing economics, fraud model performance, subscription mechanics, and MoR liability in a single conversation, and you know how a decision in one shows up in the others.
- You know what separates an internal capability from a product a stranger will pay for and depend on — the documentation, the sandbox, the SLA, the versioning discipline, the support model — and you hold that bar without being asked.
- You are fluent in the language of payments and cross-border commerce. You can hold your own with acquirers, PSPs, fraud vendors, tax advisers, and marketplace partners, and you know what to ask for, what is negotiable, and what is not.
- You are comfortable in regulated territory. PSD2 and SCA, PCI DSS scope, indirect tax and duty, local acquiring and licensing, and consumer protection are constraints you design within rather than obstacles you route around.
- You know the competitive landscape. You can articulate where the established cross-border and checkout providers are strong, where they leave gaps, and how you would position against them — without either dismissing them or being intimidated by them.
- You are genuinely curious about where commerce is heading, agent-led buying included, and you form your own view rather than repeating the prevailing one. Equally, you can tell the difference between a shift worth building for and a trend worth watching.
- You are commercially literate. You can build the case for a payment method, a market, a vendor change, or a packaging decision in terms of margin, risk, and lifetime value — not just user experience.
- You are rigorous with data. Funnel analysis, experiment design, cohort behaviour, and fraud model performance are things you interrogate yourself rather than wait to be handed.
- You lead through influence and expertise rather than authority, and you are self-directed — you identify what needs doing and start, without waiting to be told.
- You communicate with precision, in writing as much as in person. You can explain an authorisation rate problem to a CFO and an MoR liability question to a designer, and both leave understanding it.
- You are at home with ambiguity and you deliver value in a quick-paced, evolving environment where the right answer is rarely already written down.
