Role Overview

We are looking for a Senior Okta IGA/IAM Engineer with 7–10 years of experience in Identity and Access Management (IAM), Okta Identity Cloud, Okta Identity Governance (OIG), and Okta Workflows.

The candidate will be responsible for the technical implementation, configuration, integration, automation, and support of the Okta IAM/IGA platform. The role will work closely with Solutions Architects, engineering teams, project teams, and business stakeholders to implement approved solution designs while ensuring alignment with enterprise security standards and IAM best practices.

The Senior Okta Engineer will also provide technical guidance to junior engineers, participate in solution design discussions, troubleshoot implementation issues, and support production deployments and operational handover.

Key Responsibilities

- Configure and administer Okta Universal Directory (UD), user profile schemas, profile mappings, groups, and Group Rules.
- Implement Identity Lifecycle Management and Joiner-Mover-Leaver (JML) processes using manual onboarding, CSV imports, and HR integrations.
- Configure authentication policies, sign-on policies, MFA policies, password policies, and other Okta security controls.
- Develop, configure, and maintain Okta Workflows for lifecycle automation, notifications, approvals, and operational processes.
- Design and develop reusable custom connectors using Java, Python, Okta SDKs, and REST APIs.
- Configure and implement Okta Identity Governance (OIG) capabilities, including:
- Access Requests
- Resource Catalogs
- Access Certifications
- Approval and Reviewer Chains




- Governance workflows
- Integrate enterprise applications with Okta using SAML 2.0, OpenID Connect (OIDC), OAuth 2.0, and SCIM.
- Configure and manage Org2Org Federation, Identity Providers (IdPs), federation, and trust relationships.
- Configure and manage Event Hooks, Inline Hooks, and external REST API integrations.
- Participate in discovery workshops, technical design discussions, solution reviews, and implementation planning with Solutions Architects.
- Prepare deployment packages and support configuration promotion between Preview and Production environments.
- Perform unit testing and integration testing and support SIT/UAT activities.
- Troubleshoot and resolve Okta IAM/IGA implementation, integration, authentication, and lifecycle management issues.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
- Conduct technical reviews to ensure implementation quality and adherence to IAM best practices.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, implementation guides, operational runbooks, and knowledge-transfer documents.
- Support production deployment, Hypercare, and operational handover activities.
- Collaborate effectively with architects, engineering teams, project teams, and business stakeholders.

Required Skills & Experience

- 7–10 years of overall experience in Identity and Access Management (IAM).




- Solid hands-on experience with Okta Identity Cloud.
- Strong experience with Okta Identity Governance (OIG).
- Extensive experience with Okta Workflows and IAM automation.
- Strong knowledge of Okta Lifecycle Management and identity lifecycle processes.
- Hands-on experience with Okta Universal Directory, Profile Editor, Group Rules, and Profile Mappings.
- Experience implementing Joiner-Mover-Leaver (JML) processes.
- Strong experience with Okta IAM and IGA implementations.
- Experience developing custom connectors and integrations using Java, Python, Okta SDKs, and REST APIs.
- Strong understanding of SAML 2.0, OAuth 2.0, OIDC, and SCIM.
- Experience integrating enterprise applications with Okta.
- Hands-on experience with Access Requests, Access Certifications, Resource Catalogs, approval workflows, and governance processes in Okta IGA.
- Strong knowledge of Org2Org Federation, Identity Providers (IdPs), and federation concepts.
- Experience working with Event Hooks, Inline Hooks, and external REST APIs.
- Strong understanding of authentication, authorization, RBAC, IAM security, and identity governance best practices.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Skills

- Experience with Terraform / Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Knowledge of CI/CD deployment practices.
- Experience with automated Okta configuration deployment and environment promotion.
- Experience working in enterprise-scale IAM transformation or implementation projects.

Education

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Relevant Okta/IAM certifications are an advantage.
