Position: Senior Manager – Direct Tax & Financial Reporting.
Location: Corporate Office (HO), Chennai.
Department: Finance & Accounts.
Reporting To: Group Financial Controller.

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Chartered Accountant with strong expertise in Direct Taxation and Financial Reporting to support the Group's tax compliance, financial reporting, and regulatory obligations.
Position Summary
The Chartered Accountant will be responsible for managing the Company's direct taxation function, including tax planning, compliance, assessments, tax provisioning, and financial reporting under Ind AS. The role requires close collaboration with internal stakeholders, statutory and tax auditors, consultants, and leadership to ensure robust tax governance, accurate financial reporting, and regulatory compliance across the Group.
Key Responsibilities
Direct Tax Compliance & Planning
Prepare quarterly Advance Tax computations by estimating taxable income and optimizing tax outflows while minimizing interest exposure under Sections 234B and 234C of the Income Tax Act.
Coordinate with tax consultants and auditors for timely filing of Income Tax Returns (ITR) for the Company and Group entities.
Reconcile taxable income with audited financial statements and maintain complete supporting documentation.
Monitor tax payment schedules and ensure statutory compliance with applicable due dates.
Tax Audit & Regulatory Compliance
Liaise with tax auditors for completion of Tax Audit under Form 3CD.
Prepare tax audit schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
Resolve auditor observations and close audit queries within prescribed timelines.
Ensure compliance with applicable provisions of the Income Tax Act and related regulations.
Financial Reporting & Tax Accounting:
Prepare quarterly and annual Current Tax and Deferred Tax computations in accordance with Ind AS 12.
Compute and analyze the Group's Effective Tax Rate (ETR) for standalone and consolidated financial statements.
Prepare tax provisioning schedules for monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing.
Support preparation of Board presentations, MIS reports, and statutory disclosures relating to taxation.
Assist in statutory financial reporting and consolidation activities from a tax perspective.
Tax Assessments
Coordinate with external tax consultants in responding to scrutiny assessments, notices, appeals, and departmental communications.
Prepare technical submissions and supporting documentation for tax authorities.
Maintain a comprehensive tracker for ongoing assessments, litigation matters, refunds, rectifications, and appeals.
Monitor status of tax refunds and ensure timely follow-up with relevant authorities.
Regulatory Research & Advisory:
Track amendments to the Income Tax Act, Finance Acts, CBDT Circulars, Notifications, and significant judicial pronouncements.
Evaluate the financial and operational impact of tax law changes on the business.
Provide proactive recommendations to management on tax-efficient business practices and risk mitigation.
Cross-Functional Business Partnering
Partner with Finance, Treasury, Procurement, Legal, Secretarial, and Business Teams to advise on tax implications of business transactions.
Review vendor payments, capital expenditure proposals, contracts, and strategic initiatives from a direct tax perspective.
Support due diligence and tax structuring for mergers, acquisitions, expansions, and other corporate initiatives.
Process Improvement & Governance:
Strengthen internal tax controls and documentation processes.
Drive automation and standardization of tax reporting and compliance activities.
Ensure readiness for internal, statutory, and tax audits through effective documentation and compliance management.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the Finance function.
Educational Qualification
Chartered Accountant (CA) – Qualified (Mandatory)
Experience
3–6 years of post-qualification experience in Direct Taxation 90% and Financial Reporting 10%.
Experience in large corporates, healthcare organizations, or Big 4 accounting firms will be preferred.
Exposure to multi-entity organizations and consolidated financial reporting is desirable.
Technical Competencies
Strong knowledge of the Income Tax Act, Direct Tax Regulations, and Tax Compliance.
Practical experience in Ind AS.
Financial Statement Preparation and Reporting.
Tax Provisioning and Deferred Tax Accounting.
Tax Audit and Assessment Handling.
Effective Tax Rate (ETR) Computation.
Robust understanding of accounting standards and financial controls.
Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP/Oracle/Dynamics or similar) and Microsoft Excel.
