UDIT - University of Design, Innovation and Technology
Gurugram
Designation: PR & Communications Executive / Senior Executive
Location: UDIT, Gurugram (Sector 68)
Department: Communications & Branding
Reports to: Assistant Manager- Communications & Branding
About the Role
UDIT is looking for a curious, articulate, and proactive PR and communications professional to support and strengthen the university’s presence across media and relevant conversations in education, design, business, technology, culture, and lifestyle.
The role involves working closely with the Communications & Brand team to identify stories, develop media pitches, build journalist relationships, coordinate media opportunities, and ensure that the work happening across UDIT — from students and faculty to academic projects, industry collaborations, institutional initiatives, and leadership — receives the right visibility.
This is a hands-on role for someone who understands that effective PR is not simply about sending press releases. It is about finding the story, understanding why it matters, identifying who will care about it, and getting it in front of the right audience.
The incumbent will support day-to-day PR operations while taking increasing ownership of media relations, storytelling, profiling, and PR opportunities based on their experience and capability.
Education & Experience
- Graduate in any discipline, preferably in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Mass Communication, Marketing, or a related field.
- 1–4 years of experience in PR, communications, journalism, media relations, or a related field, depending on the level of the role.
- Prior experience with a reputed PR agency is preferred, with exposure to media relations, journalist outreach, pitching, and campaign execution.
- Strong writing, editing, research, and communication skills.
- Good understanding of news, media, and current affairs.
- Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to follow up consistently.
- Comfortable communicating with journalists, faculty, students, leadership, and internal stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments, priorities, and timelines independently.
- Interest in education, design, business, technology, culture, lifestyle, and contemporary India.
- Energetic, curious, proactive, and willing to learn.
- Should be capable of taking ownership of assigned responsibilities with minimal supervision.
PR & Media Relations
- Build and maintain relationships with journalists, editors, publications, and relevant media across education, design, business, technology, culture, and lifestyle.
- Research and identify relevant journalists, publications, media opportunities, and industry conversations.
- Develop and pitch story ideas, interviews, features, expert commentary, and other relevant media opportunities.
- Support journalist outreach, follow-ups, and ongoing relationship management.
- Coordinate media interviews, interactions, campus visits, and information requests.
- Maintain and regularly update media databases, journalist contacts, PR trackers, and coverage reports.
- Track media opportunities, coverage, and ongoing PR activities.
Storytelling & Content Development
- Identify potential stories and news opportunities across UDIT’s schools, students, faculty, academic projects, events, industry collaborations, and institutional initiatives.
- Research and develop story ideas that align with UDIT’s larger brand narrative.
- Draft press releases, media pitches, story notes, profiles, interview briefs, and other PR communication material.
- Gather information, quotes, images, data, and other material required to develop media stories.
- Work closely with faculty, students, leadership, and internal teams to understand and develop relevant stories.
- Support faculty, student, and leadership profiling and thought-leadership opportunities.
Research & Monitoring
- Monitor relevant media, education, design, business, technology, culture, and lifestyle conversations to identify opportunities for UDIT.
- Monitor competitor and industry activity and identify relevant PR opportunities.
- Research emerging topics, trends, publications, journalists, and conversations relevant to UDIT.
- Maintain organised records of media interactions, opportunities, coverage, and PR activities.
Campaigns & Institutional Communications
- Support PR requirements for institutional campaigns, launches, announcements, events, and other key initiatives.
- Work with the wider Communications & Brand team to ensure PR activity contributes to UDIT’s larger brand narrative.
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure timely collection of information and communication material.
- Support the execution of PR campaigns and communication initiatives from planning through to media outreach and coverage.
- Assist in ensuring consistent and accurate representation of UDIT across external communications.
Working Style & Ownership
- Take ownership of assigned PR and communication activities and ensure timely execution.
- Manage multiple priorities, deadlines, media requirements, and internal stakeholders effectively.
- Proactively identify relevant PR and media opportunities rather than waiting for constant briefing or follow-up.
- Build a solid understanding of UDIT, its schools, people, academic work, industry partnerships, and institutional priorities.
- Develop and maintain solid working relationships with internal stakeholders and external media contacts.
- Take increasing ownership of media relationships, story development, pitching, and PR opportunities based on experience and capability.
