Job Purpose The Sampling Tailor is responsible for stitching garment samples accurately according to the buyer's design, measurement specifications, pattern and technical requirements. The role requires strong knowledge of woven garment construction and the ability to produce high-quality samples within the required timeline.

Key Responsibilities

- Stitch development, fit, size-set, approval, pre-production and other required samples.
- Understand patterns, measurement sheets, reference samples and instructions provided by the sampling merchandiser/designer.
- Ensure samples are made according to the required measurements and workmanship standards.
- Handle different types of woven garments, including:
- Men's and women's shirts
- Kurtis and tops
- Dresses
- Bottom wear
- Kidswear
- Other woven styles
- Independently understand the garment construction sequence and select the correct sewing method.
- Operate sampling machines such as single needle, overlock, flatlock and other required machines.
- Handle difficult operations such as:
- Collar and collar stand
- Cuff and sleeve placket
- Front placket
- Pocket
- Yoke
- Sleeve setting
- Zipper attachment
- Binding
- Hemming
- Gathering and other special operations
- Maintain correct SPI, seam allowance, stitch quality and garment appearance.
- Identify construction difficulties during sampling and inform the sampling in-charge before bulk production.
- Suggest easier or more production-friendly sewing methods wherever possible without affecting the buyer's required appearance.
- Correct alterations quickly when measurements or styling are changed.
- Ensure samples are clean, properly finished and ready for buyer/internal approval.




- Maintain sampling machines and keep the sampling workplace organized.
- Coordinate with pattern master, merchandiser, designer, cutting team and sampling in-charge.
- Complete samples according to the sampling priority and committed deadline.

Required Skills The candidate should have strong experience in woven garment sampling and should be capable of stitching a complete garment independently. Positive knowledge of garment construction, measurements, sewing quality and different woven fabrics such as cotton, rayon, viscose, linen, polyester and blended fabrics is required.

The candidate should be able to understand patterns and garment specifications and identify construction or measurement problems during sampling.

Preferred Experience

Experience: 3–8 years in garment stitching, preferably with dedicated sampling experience.

Previous experience in an export garment factory or woven garment manufacturing unit will be preferred.

Performance will be evaluated based on:

- Sample completion on time
- First-time sample accuracy
- Measurement accuracy
- Stitching and workmanship quality
- Number of alterations/reworks
- Ability to handle new and complicated styles
- Ability to identify bulk-production difficulties during sampling
- Sample output/productivity

Reporting Reports to: Sampling In-charge / Sampling Merchandiser / Production Head

Works closely with: Pattern Master, Merchandiser, Designer, Cutting Department and Quality Team

Candidate Requirement

We are looking for an experienced sampling tailor who can independently understand and stitch complete woven garments from pattern to finished sample, with particular strength in shirts, kurtis, tops and dresses.

The candidate must be quality-conscious, responsible and capable of completing samples within strict development timelines.

Pay: ₹12,000.00 - ₹20,000.00 per month
