About Drucks
At Drucks, we're building one of the world's first consumer footwear brands powered entirely by additive manufacturing.
Every shoe begins with an individual's feet, not a standard mold. We are building the complete technology stack that makes this possible, including computational design workflows, digital manufacturing tools, custom software, proprietary manufacturing processes, and advanced FDM 3D printing.
We're looking for someone who enjoys solving engineering problems through computational design and automation.
This role is for engineers and computational designers who are deeply comfortable with Rhino, Grasshopper & parametric design.
If your primary expertise is Rhino, Grasshopper, geometry, automation and scripting, we'd love to hear from you.
What You'll Work On
You'll own the computational design layer that sits between "a foot" and "a manufacturable shoe." Instead of modelling each product by hand, you'll build the systems that generate them.
Your work will include
- Designing and building parametric Grasshopper definitions that turn scan and measurement data into production ready geometry
- Architecting reusable computational logic components and definitions the wider design team can plug into different product lines without rebuilding from scratch
- Automating geometry generation across thousands of unique, individually fitted products
- Solving hard organic surface and SubD problems that generic parametric tooling doesn't handle well
- Building tools and scripts (Python, RhinoPython, C#) that extend Grasshopper beyond its native capabilities
- Diagnosing and fixing geometry failures at scale, including why a definition breaks for edge case foot shapes
- Working closely with R&D; to translate manufacturing constraints into computational rules baked into the definitions themselves
- Owning the health of the design automation pipeline over time, including refactoring, documenting, and optimizing definitions as product lines grow
Must Have (Non-Negotiable)
Rhino
- Solid proficiency, specifically:
- Solid and surface modelling
- SubD workflows
- Complex organic geometry
- Geometry repair and cleanup
Grasshopper
This is the core of the role. You should have deep, hands on experience with:
- Data trees and list management at a level beyond basic tutorials
- Building complex, multi stage parametric definitions from scratch
- Designing definitions for reuse and scale, not one off geometry
- Performance optimization, including knowing why a definition is slow and how to fix it
- Debugging other people's Grasshopper definitions
Scripting
Comfortable writing code to extend or automate beyond native GH components:
- Python or RhinoPython, or C#
We Don't Care About
We do not hire based on:
- College
- Degree
- Academic branch
- CGPA
Who Will Enjoy This Role?
You'll enjoy working with us if you:
- Get more excited about building the tool that makes 1,000 shoes than modelling one shoe
- Think in systems and patterns, not one off geometry. Your first instinct when you see a repetitive task is to automate it, not grind through it
- Spend your free time pushing Grasshopper past what the tutorials cover
- Find data tree bugs satisfying to hunt down rather than annoying
- Like owning a piece of infrastructure long term, refactoring and improving a definition months after you first built it, not just shipping it and moving on
- Are comfortable being the person others come to when their Grasshopper definition breaks
If you're exceptional at the skills above, we want to meet you.
