Purpose

Launched in 2019, CEEW-Green Finance Centre (CEEW-GFC) aims to facilitate mobilisation of the vast amount of capital needed for the green economy. Under this broad mandate, its work spans renewable energy, mobility, industrial decarbonisation, climate adaptation, nature, instruments and regulations as well as cross cutting levers such as carbon markets, disclosures and taxonomies. The Centre has a particular focus on designing financial solutions which will unlock finance at scale.

To support its work, particularly around corporate sustainability disclosures, CEEW-GFC seeks to hire a Research Intern. The intern will support data assembly, quality checks and analysis of company filings, and the synthesis of findings into policy-facing outputs.

At the same time, the intern will have opportunities to contribute to other research areas within the Centre, including sustainable finance instruments, transition finance for hard-to-abate sectors, and international climate finance and transparency, depending on team needs and the candidate's interests.

Primary Responsibilities The intern will support allocated workstreams for quantitative and qualitative research on corporate disclosures and sustainable finance.

- Conducting systematic data quality checks on datasets for corporate disclosures: identifying anomalies, unit and scaling errors, internal inconsistencies within a filing, and implausible year-on-year movements; maintaining clear issue logs with traceable references back to source filings.
- Supporting qualitative analysis of disclosure text, including assessment of disclosure quality, and assessment of specificity, verifiability and forward-looking content in company narratives.
- Supporting quantitative analysis using Excel and tools such as R or STATA: descriptive statistics,

sectoral and peer-group comparisons, intensity metrics, data visualisation, and basic statistical analysis where relevant.
- Contributing to other workstreams within CEEW-GFC based on project needs and the candidate's interests.

Selection Criteria Qualification

- Preferably a Master’s degree with a specialisation in finance, economics, or a related field.
- Familiarity with sustainability disclosure or ESG frameworks, sustainable finance, corporate governance, or climate policy.

Work experience

- 0-1 years of experience. Candidates pursuing their Master’s can apply.

Key skills

- Working knowledge of Excel is essential, including the ability to work confidently with large datasets, lookups, pivot tables, trackers and summary tables.
- Robust quantitative orientation, including familiarity with data cleaning, data structuring and basic statistical methods. Familiarity with Python, R, STATA or similar data analysis tools preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to synthesise evidence and communicate findings clearly.
- Willingness to learn new skills.

CEEW operates in a dynamic environment and the candidate will be required to show flexibility in undertaking a variety of tasks.

Compensation

Competitive compensation – commensurate to the experience and matching the best of standards adopted by industry or other similar organisations for similar roles.

Application Process

CEEW is an equal opportunity employer and the selection process does not discriminate on the basis of age, gender, caste, ethnicity, religion, or sexuality. Female candidates are encouraged to apply.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Interested applicants are advised to apply at the earliest possible.

Only shortlisted candidates will be notified by us. We appreciate your interest.
