Company Description Rajalakshmi Engineering College is an autonomous institution affiliated with Anna University, Chennai, established in 1997 under the Rajalakshmi Educational Trust, which has extensive experience in education and industry. Role Description The Purchase Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Chennai, responsible for overseeing the procurement of goods, services, and equipment required for the college’s academic, administrative, and infrastructure needs. The role involves identifying suppliers, requesting and evaluating quotations, negotiating pricing and contract terms, and ensuring timely delivery of materials in line with quality standards and budgetary guidelines.

The Purchase

Manager will maintain accurate purchase records, manage inventory levels in coordination with relevant departments, and ensure compliance with institutional policies and regulatory requirements.



This role also includes building and maintaining vendor relationships, monitoring market trends and price changes, and collaborating with finance, administration, and departmental heads to forecast procurement needs and optimize cost efficiency.

Qualifications

- BE in Mechanical/Production/Operation or Related field with 15+ years of Experience
- Strong skills in procurement and purchasing processes, including vendor selection, negotiation, and contract management.
- Experience in budgeting, cost analysis, and inventory management to ensure efficient resource utilization.
- Proficiency in documentation, record-keeping, and use of ERP or other procurement-related software systems.
- Ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders, including academic and administrative departments, with explicit and professional communication.
- Knowledge of institutional or public-sector procurement norms, compliance requirements, and basic legal aspects of contracts.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Engineering, or a related field; a master’s degree or specialized certification in supply chain or materials management is an advantage.
- Relevant experience in purchase or materials management, preferably in an educational institution or large organization.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities, with attention to detail and integrity in handling financial matters.
- Maintain records required for ISO, NAAC, NBA, AICTE, Anna University and audit requirements.
