Aikarthya Foundation is a Section 8 nonprofit organisation working to strengthen the education ecosystem by developing teachers and leaders, strengthening schools, supporting students, and creating opportunities for young people and communities.

We primarily work with low-resource and underserved school communities, where students, teachers and schools often have limited access to opportunities, career development and support. We believe that meaningful educational change happens when students, teachers, school leaders and communities are strengthened together.

Our approach combines practical learning, continuous support, reflection, evidence and implementation to build capabilities that last beyond an individual intervention.

About Career Compass

Career Compass – Guiding Students Towards a Brighter Future

Career Compass is a structured career awareness and guidance programme for adolescents in Grades 7–10, designed to help students explore possibilities before making important educational and career decisions.

The programme takes students through a developmental journey of Discover → Decide → Plan → Prepare, helping them build career awareness, self-understanding, confidence and knowledge of educational pathways, scholarships and future opportunities.

Through interactive classroom sessions, exploration activities, reflection, career resources and planning exercises, students are encouraged to understand themselves, explore possibilities and make more informed decisions about their future.

Role Overview The Program Facilitator will play a key role in implementing, strengthening and evolving the Career Compass programme across partner schools in Telangana.

This is a highly people-centric, field-based and ownership-driven role. The person will work closely with students, teachers, school leaders, parents, colleagues and other stakeholders to ensure that Career Compass is meaningful, engaging and responsive to students' needs.

The role goes beyond delivering a predefined curriculum. The facilitator will be expected to take ownership of the programme, understand what is working and what is not, respond to challenges, use field insights to improve implementation, and actively contribute to strengthening the programme over time.

The ideal candidate is someone who cares deeply about students and their long-term outcomes, enjoys working in classrooms, is willing to learn and be challenged, and constantly asks: “How can we do this better?”

Key Responsibilities

1. Programme Implementation & Classroom Facilitation

- Conduct engaging Career Compass sessions & activities with students in Grades 7–10.
- Facilitate discussions and activities around careers, higher education, educational pathways, life skills and future aspirations.
- Create an energetic, safe and inclusive classroom environment where students feel comfortable participating and expressing themselves.
- Adapt facilitation approaches based on student needs, classroom context & field realities.
- Ensure consistent, high-quality implementation across partner schools.

2. Student Engagement & Support

- Build meaningful relationships with students and understand their aspirations, interests, strengths and concerns.
- Support students in exploring different educational and career possibilities.
- Help students develop greater self-awareness,



confidence and clarity about their future pathways.
- Track student engagement, aspirations and progress.
- Identify students who may require additional guidance or support and facilitate appropriate follow-up or referrals.
- Demonstrate patience and empathy when working with students from different social, educational and economic backgrounds.

3. Programme Ownership & Improvement

- Take ownership of Career Compass implementation rather than simply following a predefined curriculum.
- Regularly reflect on what is working, what is not working and why.
- Identify opportunities to improve sessions, resources, student engagement and programme delivery.
- Experiment with different approaches, learn from the results and adapt accordingly.
- Think beyond individual classroom sessions and contribute ideas to strengthen the overall programme.
- Actively look for ways to improve the programme so that it can eventually reach and support more students effectively.

4. School & Stakeholder Engagement

- Build strong and professional relationships with school leaders, teachers and other school stakeholders.
- Work with schools to understand their context and identify ways to improve student outcomes.
- Coordinate programme activities, schedules and requirements with partner schools.
- Engage with parents and other stakeholders where required.
- Work collaboratively with partner organisations and educational institutions.
- Represent Aikarthya Foundation and Career Compass professionally during external engagements.

5. Data, Documentation & Learning

- Maintain accurate student and programme records.
- Track programme implementation, student participation and relevant outcomes.
- Document field observations, challenges, successes and insights.
- Use data and field experiences to identify areas for improvement.
- Contribute to regular programme reports and internal reviews.
- Support the development and refinement of Career Compass content and resources.

6. Team Collaboration

- Work closely with the Career Compass and wider Aikarthya team.
- Be open to feedback, criticism and being challenged.
- Share honestly what is and isn't working rather than simply reporting activities as completed.
- Contribute actively to team discussions, problem-solving and programme improvement.
- Support a culture of learning, reflection and continuous improvement.

Ideal Candidate We are looking for someone who is energetic, empathetic and genuinely passionate about improving student outcomes, particularly for students from marginalised and underserved communities.

You would be a strong fit if you:

- Have at least one year of classroom experience and are comfortable engaging with school students.
- Are genuinely passionate about students and their long-term outcomes.
- Want to help young people make better-informed choices about their education and careers.
- Are energetic, engaging and able to connect naturally with adolescents.
- Are willing to learn, listen to feedback and continuously improve.




- Do not need to have prior experience in career counselling — the right attitude, aptitude and willingness to learn are more important.
- Take ownership of your work and are willing to go beyond simply delivering instructions.
- Are comfortable working closely with school leaders, teachers, students and other stakeholders.
- Can think on your feet, respond to unexpected situations and solve problems independently.
- Are comfortable experimenting with new approaches and learning from what happens.
- Are a strong team player who is open to being challenged and critiqued.
- Are transparent about what is and isn't working.
- Have the empathy and patience to understand students from different backgrounds and genuinely care about their progress and future.
- Are willing to travel periodically to Tier 2 and Tier 3 towns across Telangana.
- Can think beyond individual schools and students and actively look for ways to improve, strengthen and eventually scale the programme.

Most importantly, we are looking for someone with the energy and ownership to make Career Compass work — someone who cares deeply about students, is willing to learn and adapt, and constantly asks: “How can we do this better?” Qualifications & Experience

Required

- Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Sciences, Psychology, Humanities, Management or a related field.
- Minimum 1 year of classroom experience.
- Strong communication, facilitation and presentation skills.
- Ability to engage effectively with adolescents and school stakeholders.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Willingness to travel across Telangana.
- Strong documentation and reporting skills.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital documentation tools.

Preferred

- Experience working with schools or adolescents.
- Experience in education, youth development or social-sector programmes.
- Exposure to career awareness, career guidance, counselling or student mentoring.
- Fluency in English and Telugu; Hindi would be an advantage.
- Candidates based in Hyderabad will be preferred.

Prior formal training or certification in career counselling is not essential. We place greater value on the candidate's attitude, aptitude, classroom experience, empathy, learning mindset and ownership. What We Offer

Compensation ₹45,000 – ₹50,000 per month, based on qualifications and relevant experience.

The compensation includes local travel expenses and medical insurance coverage. Travel outside Hyderabad for programme-related work will be arranged or reimbursed by the organisation as per policy.
