Responsibilities

Our newest opportunity is for a Project Engineer - Waste Management to join our award-winning Sustainability and Environment Division based in Bangalore, India.We are also versatile to have this position work remotely. The role operates on a hybrid basis, combining office attendance with the flexibility to work from home, working closely with the Waste Infrastructure Lead and wider global team, you will support the delivery of waste infrastructure and consultancy projects across the Middle East, Europe and the UK.

The role will provide exposure to the full project lifecycle, from feasibility and concept development through procurement, design review, construction and commissioning, while also supporting project coordination, proposals and business development activities.





This is an opportunity to contribute to major infrastructure developments involving waste treatment, recycling, resource recovery and energy-from-waste facilities.

We envisage success in this role to include:

Technical Delivery

- Supporting the delivery of waste infrastructure and consultancy projects across feasibility, design, procurement, construction, commissioning and operational phases.
- Undertaking technical assessments of thermal, mechanical, biological and chemical waste treatment technologies.
- Preparing technical reports, feasibility studies, due diligence assessments, options appraisals and business cases.
- Assisting with Basis of Design, process descriptions, mass balances, technical specifications and performance requirements.
- Reviewing contractor and technology supplier submissions and providing technical recommendations.
- Supporting waste characterisation, facility assessments, operational reviews and technology evaluations.
- Assisting with procurement documentation, Employer’s Requirements, technical schedules and tender evaluation criteria, including attending and witnessing FATs and SATs as required.

Project Delivery & Coordination

- Supporting Project Managers in delivering projects to programme, budget and quality requirements.
- Coordinating multidisciplinary inputs from internal teams, external specialists, contractors and subcontractors.
- Tracking project actions, risks, deliverables, programme and change management activities.
- Supporting construction management, contractor coordination, issue resolution and commissioning activities.
- Participating in client meetings, workshops and stakeholder engagement, and providing project progress updates.

Proposal & Business Development

- Supporting technical and commercial proposals, including methodologies, work plans, programmes and resource schedules.
- Preparing project references, case studies and capability statements.




- Contributing to market research, opportunity identification, client presentations and business development activities across the Middle East.

Technical Excellence

- Maintaining awareness of waste treatment technologies, circular economy initiatives and regulatory requirements.
- Contributing to technical standards, templates and best practices while supporting knowledge sharing across KEO’s international teams.

Qualifications

To be successful in this dynamic opportunity, we envision that your career journey to date will include:
- A degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Process, Environmental Engineering or a related discipline.
- 2–5 years of relevant experience in waste management is preferred; experience in environmental infrastructure, utilities or industrial sectors will also be considered.
- Experience in preparing technical reports and engineering studies, with exposure to installation, construction and commissioning activities.
- Understanding of waste treatment and resource recovery technologies, with exposure to feasibility studies, due diligence or infrastructure projects.
- Strong analytical, technical writing and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly.
- A proactive and self-motivated approach, with the ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing project requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant engineering calculation or modelling tools.
- Good English communication skills.
- Willingness to travel to client offices and project sites as required.
- A valid driving licence would be advantageous.

Desirable Attributes

- Knowledge of Large Language Models (LLMs) and their responsible application to improve work processes while maintaining appropriate technical judgement.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering or consultancy environments and exposure to international projects.
