- We are looking for an experienced Production Manager with 10–15 years of hands-on experience in steel fabrication factory operations, production management, and factory development. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing end-to-end production activities, improving manufacturing efficiency, ensuring quality and timely delivery, and driving the overall development of the fabrication facility.

The candidate should have strong experience in managing shop-floor operations, manpower, machinery, production planning, fabrication processes, quality, safety, and productivity improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Manage end-to-end production and factory operations for steel fabrication projects.

Plan, schedule, and monitor daily, weekly, and monthly production activities to achieve targets.

Lead and manage shop-floor teams, supervisors, welders, fitters, fabricators, and contract manpower.

Ensure optimum utilization of manpower, machinery, equipment, raw materials, and production capacity.

Monitor fabrication activities including cutting, bending, fit-up, welding, grinding, assembly, finishing, and dispatch.

Develop and implement production plans in line with project schedules and customer requirements.

Monitor production progress and take corrective actions to minimize delays, rework, bottlenecks, and downtime.

Drive productivity, cost reduction, process improvement, and operational efficiency initiatives.

Coordinate with Design, Planning, Purchase, Stores, Quality, Projects, and Dispatch teams for smooth operations.

Ensure availability of raw materials, consumables, tools, and equipment as per production requirements.

Establish and monitor production KPIs, MIS, productivity reports, rejection/rework levels, and machine utilization.

Identify production bottlenecks and implement effective solutions for improving throughput.





Ensure proper preventive maintenance and efficient utilization of production machinery and equipment.

Work closely with the Quality team to ensure compliance with fabrication standards, drawings, specifications, welding procedures, and inspection requirements.

Minimize material wastage and ensure effective material utilization.

Ensure strict adherence to factory safety procedures, PPE requirements, 5S, housekeeping, and statutory norms.

Participate in factory expansion, development, layout planning, capacity enhancement, and installation/commissioning of new machinery.

Evaluate existing production processes and introduce improved systems, methods, and technologies.

Develop SOPs and standard operating practices for production activities.

Monitor and control production costs while maintaining quality and delivery commitments.

Handle production-related customer/project escalations and provide timely solutions.

Train, mentor, and develop production personnel and build a high-performance shop-floor team.

Prepare regular production reports and present operational performance to senior management.

Factory Development Responsibilities

Support management in factory expansion and capacity enhancement initiatives.

Plan and optimize factory layout, workflow, material movement, and production flow.

Identify requirements for new machinery, equipment, tools, and infrastructure.

Lead implementation of systems to improve production capacity, efficiency, safety, and quality.

Benchmark existing processes and introduce best practices in steel fabrication manufacturing.





Assist in setting up new production lines, fabrication bays, and related infrastructure as required.

Key Skills & Competencies

Solid knowledge of steel fabrication and manufacturing processes.

Excellent production planning and shop-floor management skills.

Strong understanding of welding, fabrication, fit-up, cutting, assembly, and finishing processes.

Manpower planning and team management.

Knowledge of production costing, productivity, and material optimization.

Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

Experience in factory development, capacity enhancement, and process improvement.

Ability to read and understand engineering/fabrication drawings.

Strong coordination and communication skills.

Knowledge of 5S, Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, TPM, and continuous improvement will be an advantage.

Strong focus on quality, safety, productivity, and timely delivery.

Qualification

Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or related discipline.

Experience

10–15 years of relevant experience, preferably with a strong background in steel fabrication, structural steel, heavy engineering, or similar manufacturing/fabrication industries.

Preferred Candidate Profile

Candidates currently working as Production Manager / Factory Manager / Plant Manager / Production Head / Senior Production Manager in a steel fabrication or engineering manufacturing setup.

Hands-on experience managing a large fabrication shop and production workforce.

Strong exposure to factory operations as well as factory development/expansion.

Proven track record of improving production capacity, productivity, quality, and delivery performance.
