Product Owner - SpendOps

Role Purpose

Owns the SpendOps proposition — cloud, software and telecom spend governance committed on net-verified dollars recovered — carrying FinOps hands-on with no separate specialist.

Key Responsibilities

- Own the SpendOps proposition end-to-end — roadmap, service definition and commercial model for cloud, software and telecom spend-governance-as-a-service, committed on net-verified dollars recovered.
- Deliver FinOps hands-on with no separate specialist backstop, building cost allocation, showback/chargeback and unit-economics models directly for client cloud estates.
- Design and operate cost-governance guardrails — tagging/cost-allocation policy, budget and anomaly alerting, reserved-instance/savings-plan and rightsizing programs across AWS, Azure and GCP.
- Extend spend governance into software and telecom estates — TEM and SaaS/license-spend sprawl — as a proposition cross-sell.
- Build the commercial model — RU/savings-share pricing, service-catalogue tiers, SLAs tied to optimization cadence and realized savings.
- Own FinOps tooling selection and roadmap, landing billing-export and cost-and-usage data feeds with platform teams.

Hard Skills

- FinOps practice depth — FinOps Framework fluency (Inform/Optimize/Operate, cross-functional personas); FinOps Certified Practitioner (FOCP), progressing toward Certified Engineer/Skilled.




- Cost & usage data normalization — FOCUS (FinOps Open Cost & Usage Specification) adoption across AWS, Azure, GCP and SaaS billing exports for a single normalized cost schema.
- Cloud cost tooling fluency — CloudHealth and Apptio Cloudability administration; native tools (AWS Cost Explorer/CUR, Azure Cost Management + Billing, GCP Cloud Billing); Kubecost for container cost allocation.
- TEM & software spend governance — Tangoe/Calero-class telecom expense management; SAM platforms (Flexera One, Snow, ServiceNow SAM Pro); Zylo/Productiv-class SaaS spend management.
- Unit-economics & commercial modelling — showback/chargeback design, unit-cost and business-case modelling, RU and savings-share pricing, service-credit/SLA design tied to optimization commitments.
- Cost-optimization engineering — reserved-instance/savings-plan and commitment-discount management, rightsizing and idle-resource reclamation, tagging/labeling governance.
- Managed-services productization — service-catalogue and tiering design for spend-governance-as-a-service, build-vs-partner decisions for the FinOps stack.
- Forecasting & executive reporting — budget/anomaly-alerting design, capacity/demand forecasting, exec-ready cost-and-savings dashboards evidencing net-verified recovery.
