DescriptionCravv is building the brain for the kitchen. A device that understands what is happening while you cook and guides you through it as it happens. We are a Tier 1 funded hardware startup in Bengaluru, and the first units are going into real homes. Nobody has built this before, so there is no product to reference and no template to follow. Everything you design here is the first version of it.
The product is three things at once. A device, a mobile app, and an AI layer that reads the kitchen and decides what to say next. Very few designers get to work across all three, and almost nobody gets to this early.
We move quick. We are in active testing, work goes live most weeks, and a decision takes one conversation.
We are looking for a product design intern to help us figure it out.
What you will actually work onNot moodboards. Not assisting a senior designer. Real parts of the product, owned end to end and shipped.
- The device, and the app around it. Two surfaces with very different rules. Most designers do not get near hardware until much later, if ever.
- An AI that sometimes gets it wrong. You decide what it says, when it stays quiet, and how it recovers from a bad guess. The hardest problem here, and the most interesting.
- A design system you build, not inherit. You name things and decide what scales, then watch it hold up or break.
- Features from zero. Talk to users, work out what they actually need, design the answer.
- Work that ships. Feedback comes back in hours, not quarters. What you draw this morning can be in a kitchen tonight.
- Real kitchens, not personas. Watch someone struggle with something you made, work out why, and fix it.
- The small stuff. Components, states, micro-interactions, motion. The details that decide whether it feels good.
Who you will be working withA small, young team that ships every week. Average age is closer to yours than to your professor’s. No hierarchy, no design committee, no six-week approvals. You show the work,
we talk about it, it ships. You will be in the room where the decision gets made, not the one where it gets announced.
We argue about details.
What you get out of itThree to four months here is worth about two years elsewhere. A big company gives you one surface, one release a quarter, and a senior designer between you and the decision. Here you get three surfaces, a release most weeks, and the founders in the room. You will make more decisions and ship more work in a few months than most designers do in two years.
A skillset almost nobody your age has. Hardware, mobile and AI in one product. You will leave able to say you have designed a physical interface, an app and an AI experience, with shipped work behind each.
A stipend at par with industry standards. Paid monthly, on time. Exposure is not a currency.
A recommendation letter from the founders, if things go well, based on work you actually shipped.
A full-time offer at the end, if the fit is right.
Ownership that usually takes years to earn. Your name is on the thing. So are your mistakes. Both are useful.
A portfolio piece nobody else has. Your case study starts with ‘I designed for a category that did not exist yet.’ It will be the first thing every future interviewer asks about.
What we are looking forHigh agency, above everything else. You see something broken and you fix it without being asked. You do not wait for a brief, and nobody has to chase you. When something is unclear, you go and find out.
After that
- A portfolio with your best work. This is the main thing we look at
- Comfort when there is no obvious right answer
- Curiosity about people and about how things work
- Figma fluency and product thinking
Interest in hardware or AI helps, but it is not a requirement. We can teach that part. We do not care about your college, your CGPA, or whether design was your original degree.
