Associate AI Experience team within the AI & Data pillar is dedicated to empowering field associates, business users, and developers alike with seamless, governed AI embedded into everyday workflows to elevate productivity. Our team is looking for a solid Principal Software Engineer who will help us build this next-generation platform by designing, coding, building, and deploying highly scalable, robust, and intelligent cloud solutions. In this role, you will architect the foundational engines that power associate-built AI agents, automated evaluation workflows, and enterprise-grade governance pipelines that seamlessly cater to associate requirements across internal stakeholders.

As part of Walmart Global Tech in India building solutions across global Walmart markets, your designs and engineering solutions will have a direct, daily impact on millions of associates. You will be challenged with complex business and technical problems that span multiple countries, massive data scale, and enterprise-wide adoption.

What you will do

- Work with multiple teams and guide them on technical aspects, set quality standards, participate in design discussions, and drive technical decisions across cloud and intelligent platform services.
- Lead Architecture & Design Reviews across teams for high-scale, distributed platform systems.
- Conduct Code Reviews across teams to ensure engineering excellence, security, and performance standards.
- Engage with Product Management and Business to drive the agenda,



set technical priorities, and deliver awesome products.
- Drive design, development, implementation, and documentation for core platform engines, AI agent workflows, and governance pipelines.
- Build, test, evaluate, and deploy cutting-edge solutions at scale, impacting associates of Walmart worldwide.
- Interact with Walmart engineering teams across geographies to leverage expertise and contribute to the tech community.
- Drive the success of the implementation by applying technical skills to design and build enhanced processes and technical solutions in support of strategic initiatives.
- You will use your engineering experience and technical skills to develop highly scalable, robust, and intelligent platform solutions. You will work with Engineering Leads and Architects.
- Work closely with Architects and cross-functional teams to follow established practices for the delivery of solutions meeting QCD (Quality, Cost & Delivery) within established architectural guidelines.
- Work with senior leadership to chart out the future technical roadmap of the products and platform capabilities.
- Participate in hiring and build teams, enabling them to be high-performing agile teams.
- Help and participate with teams that leverage and contribute to open-source technologies to make an impact on a global scale.
- Interact closely for requirements with Business owners and technical teams both within India and across the globe.

What you will bring

- B.Tech. / B.E. / M.Tech. / M.S. in Computer Science or relevant discipline.




- 11+ years of experience in design and development of highly scalable applications and platform development.
- Hosted & Participated in Architecture Review & Design/Code Review events.
- Hands-on System Designing experience for large-scale, complex distributed architectures.
- Strong computer science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, design patterns.
- Extensive hands-on experience building services using these technologies (Java, Python, Scala, Springboot, Microservices, NodeJs).
- Hands-on experience in web technologies like React JS/Angular JS, JavaScript, TypeScript, CSS.
- Solid understanding of modern Gen AI, Agentic platform architectures (e.g., LLM orchestration, RAG, agent execution runtimes), and how to apply them to build scalable software solutions.
- In-depth knowledge and hands-on working experience with RESTful web services.
- In-depth knowledge and working experience with SOAP web services.
- Good knowledge in messaging systems: Kafka/RabbitMQ.
- Working knowledge of SQL and NoSQL database technologies.
- Knowledge of Linux platform.
- Knowledge of unit testing frameworks (JUnit, Jest, Spock, etc.) and code quality control platforms like Sonar.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (IaaS/PaaS).
- CI/CD development environments/tools: Git, Maven, Gradle, Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Azure DevOps.
- Experience in implementing Distributed Cache (Redis/Hazelcast).
- Well-versed with Logging and Metrics tools and technologies (ELK/Splunk/Grafana).
- Knowledge in search engines and indexing technologies (Lucene/Solr/Vector search patterns).
- Demonstrated end-to-end ownership for development and design.
