About the Role To strengthen evidence-based program planning, implementation, monitoring, and impact assessment, BJS is recruiting a Monitoring, Evaluation & Research Associate to support the establishment and strengthening of an organization-wide Monitoring, Evaluation & Research (MER) system.

The Monitoring, Evaluation & Research Associate will support the development and implementation of robust MER systems by working closely with program, research, monitoring & evaluation team.

Purpose of the Position The Monitoring, Evaluation & Research Associate will assist in strengthening the organization's Monitoring, Evaluation & Research systems by supporting program monitoring, research studies, data management, reporting, evaluations, and evidence generation across organizational programs. The position requires robust analytical ability, understanding of Monitoring & Evaluation concepts, willingness to travel, and the ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary program teams.

Employment Type: 3-6 months contract with a possibility of conversion to full-time employment.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

Monitoring, Evaluation & Research (MER)

Support the design and implementation of organizational MER systems by assisting in developing M&E; frameworks, monitoring plans, program indicators, Logical Frameworks (Log Frame), reporting formats, dashboards, and data collection tools to strengthen evidence-based program management.

Program Monitoring

Support program implementation through regular monitoring,



field visits, progress tracking, coordination with program teams, ensuring timely monitoring of outputs, outcomes, and program performance.

Research, Evaluation & Learning

Assist in baseline, midline, endline, process, and impact evaluations, along with qualitative and quantitative research studies. Support questionnaire development, sampling, data collection, literature reviews, evidence generation, and documentation of lessons learned for program improvement.

Data Management & Quality Assurance

Manage program databases by compiling, validating, cleaning, and verifying data. Support Data Quality Assurance (DQA) processes, maintain monitoring trackers, and ensure data accuracy, completeness, consistency, and reliability.

Data Analysis & Reporting

Support quantitative and qualitative data analysis using Excel, SPSS/Stata, and other analytical tools. Prepare monitoring reports, dashboards, analytical summaries, donor reports, management presentations, and program review documents to facilitate data-driven decision-making.

Documentation & Knowledge Management

Develop case studies, success stories, and program documentation while maintaining organizational knowledge repositories. Support dissemination, publication of research findings and contribute to organizational learning and knowledge management initiatives.

Program Coordination

Coordinate with program teams, field staff, and stakeholders for timely collection of monitoring information, implementation of evaluation recommendations, and organization of review meetings, workshops, and capacity-building activities.

Educational Qualification

Master's degree with M.Phil. (preferable) in Rural Development, Social Work, Sociology, Education, Geography, Water Resources Management, Agricultural, Statistics, Population Studies, Development Studies,



or any other relevant Social Science discipline.

Experience

Candidates should have 1–3 years of experience in Monitoring & Evaluation, Research, Program Monitoring related development sector work. Experience in NGOs, Water Conservation, Education, Adolescent Development, CSR, Community Development, or Impact Assessment will be preferred. Outstanding candidates with strong analytical aptitude may also be considered.

Technical Skills

Proficiency in SPSS/Stata, MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Google Workspace, report writing, and data management are essential. Working knowledge of Power BI, Kobo Toolbox/ODK/Survey CTO, NVivo, GIS, and other analytical or data visualization tools will be an added advantage.

Required Knowledge & Technical Competencies

Candidates should have knowledge and work experience in Monitoring & Evaluation systems, Theory of Change (ToC), Logical Framework Approach (Log Frame), Key performance Indicator (KPI) and indicator development, baseline-midline-endline studies, impact evaluation, quantitative and qualitative research methodologies, research design, sampling techniques, questionnaire development, statistical analysis, dashboard preparation, data visualization, interpretation of program data, research paper writing and publication.

Core Competencies The ideal candidate should demonstrate strong analytical and critical thinking, excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Hindi (proficiency in Marathi will be an added advantage), report writing and documentation skills, problem-solving ability, teamwork, time management, attention to detail, willingness to travel, and the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
