Job Title: MATLAB Modeling and Controls Engineer / Model-Based Design Engineer
Education: M.Tech
Relevant Experience: 5 7 Years
Location: Bangalore
Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced MATLAB Modeling and Controls Engineer with 5 7 years of experience in developing and implementing control algorithms using MATLAB, Simulink, and Stateflow.
The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Model-Based Design (MBD), control system modeling, simulation, and validation. The role involves developing and optimizing control strategies for complex systems, integrating legacy C/C++ algorithms into Simulink environments, and validating control models through MIL, SIL, and HIL testing.
The candidate will work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to define system requirements, develop advanced control solutions, troubleshoot control-system issues, automate testing, and document design and validation activities.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
Model-Based Control Development
Develop and implement advanced control algorithms using MATLAB, Simulink, and Stateflow.
Design Model-based Control Strategies For Complex Systems, Including
Power electronics
HVAC systems
Transport refrigeration systems
Motor control systems
Other electromechanical applications
Develop dynamic system models using Simulink, Stateflow, and Simscape.
Analyze and optimize control-system performance, stability, efficiency, and reliability.
Explore advanced control methodologies and develop proof-of-concept models to evaluate technical feasibility.
Apply model-based design practices to support new product development and continuous improvement.
Legacy Code Integration
Convert existing C/C++ source code into custom Simulink S-Functions.
Integrate legacy algorithms into modern model-based design workflows.
Perform algorithm equivalence testing to ensure that the converted models produce results consistent with the original implementation.
Troubleshoot integration and execution issues associated with legacy code and custom S-Functions.
Model Development & Validation
Develop and validate plant and control models using MATLAB, Simulink, Stateflow, and Simscape.
Validate models through simulation results, experimental data, and system-level test results.
Perform Model-in-the-Loop (MIL), Software-in-the-Loop (SIL), and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing.
Define system-level regression test cases and establish clear pass/fail criteria.
Analyze test results and identify gaps between expected and actual system behavior.
Support verification and validation activities throughout the product development lifecycle.
Test Automation & Regression Testing
Develop and maintain automated test cases for control algorithms and system models.
Support test automation and regression testing activities.
Create repeatable simulation and validation workflows.
Identify opportunities to improve test coverage, execution efficiency, and result consistency.
Document test procedures, test conditions, expected results, and acceptance criteria.
Troubleshooting & Optimization
Investigate and resolve control-system, model, simulation, and integration issues.
Perform root-cause analysis of control algorithm and system-performance problems.
Optimize control algorithms and model architectures for improved performance and computational efficiency.
Support the development of efficient simulation models suitable for real-time execution where required.
Evaluate new tools, methods, and technologies in model-based development and control engineering.
Collaboration & Documentation
Collaborate with validation engineers, software developers, systems engineers, controls engineers, and domain experts.
Support the definition and clarification of system requirements.
Prepare technical reports, design documents, test procedures, and validation reports.
Present technical findings, simulation results, project progress, and recommendations to stakeholders.
Stay updated on developments in model-based design, control systems, simulation, and test automation.
Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering processes, tools, and methodologies.
Required Skills & Qualifications
M.Tech in Control Systems, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, or a related technical discipline.
5 7 years of relevant experience in model-based design, control systems, MATLAB modeling, or simulation engineering.

MATLAB Modelling and Controls Engineer Education: M.Tech Relevant Experience : 5 - 7 years.
The ideal candidate is an M.Tech-qualified Model-Based Design or Controls Engineer with 5 7 years of experience in developing control algorithms and simulation models using MATLAB, Simulink, Stateflow, and Simscape.
The candidate should have hands-on experience in S-Function development, legacy C/C++ code integration, control-system modeling, MIL/SIL/HIL validation, test-case preparation, test automation, and regression testing.
Experience in HVAC/HVACR controls, BMS, motor control, power electronics, or transport refrigeration systems will be an added advantage
