Role Summary The Marketing & Branding Lead holds overall responsibility for the brand's marketing function, spanning brand building and performance marketing. The role involves managing external agency partners to a high standard while progressively developing in-house capability, with the objective of reducing dependency on outsourced execution over time.
Key Responsibilities
Agency Management
- Define scopes of work and deliverables for performance and creative agency partners
- Conduct structured weekly performance reviews against agreed metrics
- Maintain independent command of account performance rather than relying on agency reporting
In-House Capability Development
- Build internal capability across content, creative, community management, and email and WhatsApp marketing
- Establish repeatable processes that reduce reliance on external partners
Performance Management and Reporting
- Own the marketing dashboard, covering CAC, ROAS, CTR, AOV and marketing cost ratio by channel and by SKU
- Report weekly on performance against benchmark, with transparent recommendations
- Ensure spend decisions are evaluated against contribution margin rather than revenue alone
Content and Creative
- Maintain a rolling 30-day content calendar across all owned channels
- Plan photoshoots on a per-drop basis, ensuring the asset bank is complete two weeks ahead of each launch
- Brief the photoshoot and content team on requirements aligned to campaign and channel needs
Experimentation
- Maintain a documented experiment pipeline covering creative, audience, offer and channel tests
Define a hypothesis and success criteria before each test, and record outcomes including negative results
Preferred candidate profile
- Demonstrable interest in the discipline. A sustained personal engagement with marketing as a craft, evidenced in how the candidate discusses brands and campaigns beyond their own work.
- Analytical curiosity. A consistent focus on understanding why performance moved, and whether a result is repeatable, rather than on delivery alone.
- Experimental rigour. A structured approach to testing, with clear criteria for scaling or discontinuing an initiative.
- Platform fluency. An established personal social media presence. Follower count is not a criterion; first-hand, practical understanding of the platforms is.
- Commercial literacy. The ability to plan and evaluate spend against gross and contribution margin.
