Linux/AIX Systems Administrator
Key Responsibilities
- Expertise of OS Clustering, Partitioning and virtualization.
- Hands on experience for managing day-to-day AIX Operating System installation, migration and break-fix support.
- Manage the patching of AIX systems across the enterprise, ensuring that patches are applied in a timely and efficient manner.
- Develop and maintain patching schedules and processes.
- Monitor and report on the patching status of AIX systems, identifying any gaps or issues.
- Work closely with other IT teams to ensure that patches are applied in a coordinated and controlled manner.
- Provide guidance and support to IT teams on patching processes and procedures.
- Keep up to date with the latest AIX patching technologies and best practices and make recommendations for improvements to the patching process.
- Collaborate with security teams to ensure that AIX systems are patched in line with security policies and standards.
- Develop and maintain documentation related to patching processes and procedures.
- Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours patching activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field
- 5+ years of experience in AIX patch management
- Strong knowledge of AIX operating systems, including patching technologies and best practices
- Experience with patch management tools such as IBM BigFix, Red Hat Satellite
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
- Relevant industry certifications, such as IBM Certified System Administrator - AIX, are a plus.

Qualifications
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Min 5 years of experience with experience in the following areas:
- Knowledge of risk-based systems running on UNIX / LINUX platforms.
- Knowledge of SAN S/W & Storage Administration and integration with Operating Systems.
- Knowledge of HACMP clustering, VIOS implementation.
- System P Hardware installation and Break fix supports.
- Understanding of networking topology and protocols
- Clear and concise communications both written and verbal.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ready to work in 24X7 Shifts & on call schedule.
Training:
- The post holder will be expected to undertake training to ensure that her/his skills are current.
