About the Role

We're hiring a Link Building Specialist for our digital marketing agency. This is an agency role, meaning you'll be working across multiple client websites simultaneously, not a single in-house site, so juggling several campaigns, priorities, and outreach pipelines at once is core to the job.

Alongside traditional link building, prior experience building links aligned with Generative Engine Optimization (GEO), i.e. building authority and citations that help brands get referenced inside AI answer engines like ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, and Google AI Overviews, is required, not a nice-to-have. We need someone who understands why certain links, mentions, and citations move the needle for LLM-based search, not just traditional Google rankings, and who already has working relationships in the ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities





- Build and execute link building / digital PR strategies aligned to both traditional SEO and GEO/AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) goals
- Identify and prioritise link and citation opportunities based on what LLMs actually cite (publishers, forums, structured data sources, Wikipedia-adjacent sources, niche authority sites) — not just Domain Rating
- Run outreach campaigns to publishers, journalists, and PR contacts to secure earned coverage and backlinks
- Manage relationships with niche directories, guest-post publishers, and syndication partners
- Build and maintain a presence/reputation strategy on Reddit and other community/social platforms (Quora, niche forums, LinkedIn) where LLMs frequently pull citations and sentiment from
- Track which citation sources correlate with improved brand visibility in AI search results (using tools like brand/AI-visibility trackers) and adjust tactics accordingly
- Collaborate with content and SEO teams to identify content worth promoting for links/citations
- Report on link acquisition, referring domains, and, increasingly, AI citation/mention tracking as a KPI, not just traditional backlink metrics

Requirements

- 3+ years of hands-on link building / digital PR experience,



on the agency side managing multiple client websites/campaigns at the same time, not just one in-house site
- Required: hands-on experience building links specifically aligned with GEO/AEO — can speak to how LLM citation behavior differs from Google's crawling/ranking, and how they've adjusted tactics accordingly (not just theoretical awareness of GEO as a concept)
- An existing network/rolodex of publisher, PR, and directory contacts — not starting from zero
- Real experience building presence and credibility on Reddit and other social/community platforms as part of a link or citation strategy (not just "posted a few comments")
- Strong outreach, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
- Familiarity with SEO/link tools (Ahrefs, Semrush, etc.) and ideally AI-visibility/brand-monitoring tools
- Excellent written English for outreach and pitching
- Comfortable working with international (Western) clients and time zones

Nice to Have

- Experience in specific verticals (SaaS, fintech, health, ecommerce)
- Track record with HARO/Featured/journalist-request platforms
- Basic understanding of how structured data, Wikipedia/Wikidata, and knowledge graphs feed into AI search visibility
