About the role

•System Administration & Monitoring: Installing, upgrading, and maintaining SAP systems (SAP S4HANA, NetWeaver), including responsibility for monitoring of system logs, performance, and workload to keep operations running smoothly.

•User & Authorization Management: Managing roles and permissions, user access and handling security audits to ensure compliance and data protection.

•Database Management: Ensures systems and database backups are adequately protecting the systems integrity. Manages data archiving, and restoring systems when necessary, particularly in managing the HANA database.

•Transport Management System (TMS): Controls the system integrity by managing the movement of development changes from development to testing, and finally into production environments to ensure consistent code deployment.

•Performance Tuning: Ensures the servers, network, and database resources are optimised for maximum efficiency.





•Troubleshooting: Supports the analysis and resolution of technical issues and failures, and takes a leading role in managing emergency issues.

•Provides support to the BASIS services provided by the Application Managed Services provider to ensure an effective and efficient support structure and process is maintained.

•Supports Change Management activities for BASIS and participates in Change Advisory Board processes as required.

•Adheres to Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) controls and processes to support compliance and audit requirements

Duties & Responsibilities

Skills & Experience





- 5-10 years of experience in supporting BASIS environments in SAP systems in a support capacity
- Experience in supporting SAP S/4HANA, HANA DB and ancillary cloud systems such as SAP BTP, OpenText and Ariba.
- SAP HANA & S/4HANA: In-depth knowledge of HANA database administration, including installation, upgrades, performance tuning, and backup/restore procedures.
- Experience in system refreshes, landscape transformations, S/4HANA upgrades, kernel upgrades, cutover planning, and disaster recovery / high availability configurations.
- Operating Systems & Cloud: Strong proficiency in Linux/Unix environments (e.g., SUSE, RHEL) and experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Database Management: Experience with database management tools for SAP HANA, Oracle, or SQL Server, including SQL knowledge.
- Transport Management System (TMS): Expertise in managing transport routes and migrating changes between development, testing, and production systems.
- Monitoring & Security: Experience with SAP Solution Manager for system monitoring and managing user roles and security.
- Networking & Security: Knowledge of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, firewalls, DNS, and setting up SSL/SNC.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and build strong relationships within a cross-functional team.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Systems, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent work experience.
