Job Title: Junior Mechanical Engineer – Ship Repair & New Shipbuilding

Reports To: Senior Mechanical Engineer / Project Manager

Job Summary

We are seeking a Junior Mechanical Engineer with a minimum of 1 year of experience in a shipyard , specifically in ship repair and/or recent shipbuilding projects . The candidate will support mechanical engineering activities, supervise installation and maintenance works, ensure quality standards, and coordinate with project teams to deliver projects safely and on schedule.

Key Responsibilities

- Execute and supervise mechanical works for ship repair and new shipbuilding projects.
- Oversee installation, dismantling, alignment, maintenance, and commissioning of marine machinery and equipment.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs;, GA drawings, and technical specifications.
- Coordinate with production, planning, quality control, subcontractors, and client representatives.
- Monitor daily work progress and prepare project reports.
- Ensure compliance with Class Society standards and customer specifications.
- Support inspection, testing, and commissioning of mechanical systems.
- Identify and troubleshoot mechanical issues during repair and construction.
- Ensure all activities comply with HSE regulations and permit-to-work procedures.




- Coordinate material requirements and verify availability for project execution.

Eligibility Criteria
- Education: B.E./B.Tech or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience in a shipyard , with exposure to ship repair and/or new shipbuilding projects .
- Experience in marine engineering, offshore fabrication, or heavy engineering will be an added advantage.

Required Skills
- Knowledge of marine engines, pumps, compressors, valves, piping systems, and auxiliary machinery.
- Familiarity with ship repair procedures and new ship construction activities.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and technical documents.
- Basic knowledge of AutoCAD and MS Office.
- Good communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and quality standards.

Preferred Knowledge
- Mechanical installation and commissioning.
- Piping fabrication and alignment.
- Welding and fabrication processes.
- Marine equipment maintenance.
- Quality inspection and testing.
- Class Society standards (ABS, DNV, Lloyd's Register, IRS, BV, etc.).
