Company Description The Open Room is a studio where architecture and education are intentionally merged to create new ways of practicing and learning design. As one of the early pioneers in combining architectural practice with edtech, the studio develops both physical spaces and learning ecosystems. Role Description The Junior Architect will support the design and development of architectural projects, contributing to concept creation, schematic design, and detailed drawings. This full-time, on-site role in the Greater Chennai Area involves preparing design documentation, assisting with 3D modeling and visualization, and coordinating with senior architects and project stakeholders.
The Junior
Architect will participate in site visits, gather and analyze project requirements, and help ensure that designs meet functional, aesthetic, and regulatory standards.
The role also includes contributing to educational and learning-focused initiatives, such as design workshops or content for learning platforms, while maintaining organized project files and timelines.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Architecture and Architectural Design, with the ability to translate concepts into clear drawings and models.
- Ability to work with Software Development and Integration teams when projects intersect with digital or learning platform solutions.
- Basic understanding of Project Management principles, including time management, task tracking, and coordination with cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in design and drafting tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, or similar) and familiarity with visualization software.
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or an equivalent qualification, with a portfolio demonstrating design skills and academic or internship projects.
- Strong analytical, communication, and collaboration skills, with attention to detail and openness to feedback and mentoring.
- Interest in education, learning environments, or edtech, and willingness to engage with both physical and digital design contexts.
