ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a hands-on HR role in a bag manufacturing unit. The main job is to build a proper system for the factory workforce,
keep enough trained workers on the floor every day, and reduce the number of workers who leave. Most of the workforce is blue-collar, so the role needs someone who can work on the floor, not only at a desk.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Build the worker management system
- Set up simple systems for the factory workforce: worker records, attendance, wage inputs, leave and shift planning.
- Prepare a skill chart for every department — who can do which operation, and at what level.
- Maintain a worker master with joining date, department, skill, wage type and contact details.
- Create simple formats and registers that department heads can fill without difficulty.
- Reduce attrition
- Track how many workers join and leave every month, department wise.
- Talk to workers who resign and find out the real reason for leaving.
- Work on the common reasons — wage delays, supervisor behaviour, working conditions, workload and lack of growth.
- Run easy retention steps: proper induction, regular worker interaction, attendance and long-service rewards, timely wage payment.
- Give the management a monthly attrition report with reasons and an action plan.
- Keep production running with the right manpower
- Check daily attendance early in the morning and arrange replacements for absent workers.
- Move workers between departments when a line is short or an order is urgent.
- Keep a ready pipeline of candidates so a vacancy does not stay open for long.
- Inform the management immediately about any manpower shortage that can delay dispatch.
- Hiring and joining
- Collect manpower requirements from department heads and hire accordingly.
- Source workers through local channels, references and contractors.
- Complete joining formalities — documents, photo, Aadhaar card, PAN card, bank details and appointment letter.
- Explain wages, duty hours, leave rules and company rules clearly at the time of joining.
- Attendance, leave and wage support
- Maintain daily attendance, overtime and leave records for all workers and staff.
