About House of Sonal For 28 years, House of Sonal has been Bengaluru's address for sarees that mean something.

We're not a store that simply stocks sarees — we're a living archive of Indian handloom, built one carefully chosen piece at a time. Our collections bring together Kanjeevarams, Banarasis and handwoven silks alongside dress materials and designer edits, sourced from weaving clusters across India or commissioned to our own specifications.

Walk through House of Sonal and you're walking through decades of textile history that still feels current — heritage weaves styled for the woman wearing them today, not a museum piece behind glass.

That balance — honouring the craft while staying relevant — is what we work on every day.

The Role

We're looking for a Freelance Fashion Photographer & Content Creator who can make fabric look the way it feels in the hand — the weight of a silk pallu, the way zari catches light, the precision of a border and the movement of a saree when it is worn.

You'll work primarily from our Jayanagar store in Bengaluru , creating finished visual content for our website, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.

This is an end-to-end content creation role . We are looking for someone who can take an assignment from concept and shoot setup through photography/video, editing and final delivery .

The role has two important components: still product photography and short-form video content.

1. Product & Fashion Photography

You will plan and execute shoots across our collections, including:
- E-commerce and website product photography
- Model-based saree and ethnicwear shoots
- Mannequin and flat-lay photography where appropriate
- Full-length product images
- Drape, pallu, border and fabric-detail shots
- Editorial / lookbook-style images
- Images specifically created for Facebook albums and social media
- Consistent product photography across different collections and categories

The expectation is not simply to produce attractive photographs. The product itself must be represented accurately. Colour, texture, zari, weave, border detailing and drape are critical.

You will also be responsible for selecting, colour-correcting, retouching and optimising the final images for their intended use.

1. Presenter-led Reels & Short-form Video

We're also building a regular presenter-led content format for Instagram Reels, Facebook and YouTube Shorts. You will help us shoot and produce:

- Presenter-led product features




- Saree explanations and product stories
- Styling and draping content
- New collection presentations
- Short product-focused videos
- Vertical video content optimised for Reels and Shorts
- Supporting close-ups and B-roll of the sarees

You should understand framing, movement, lighting, audio and pacing for short-form video , and be comfortable working with a presenter/model in front of the camera. Video Editing & Final Delivery

Importantly, this role includes post-production and editing .

You will be expected to take the footage you shoot and turn it into finished, platform-ready content , including:

- Selecting the strongest takes
- Editing and structuring the video
- Creating engaging openings/hooks
- Clean cuts and pacing
- Colour correction and basic grading
- Audio cleanup and balancing
- Adding appropriate music where required
- On-screen text, captions and product information
- Basic motion graphics/transitions where appropriate
- Creating the correct vertical format for Instagram Reels, Facebook and YouTube Shorts
- Exporting and delivering final files in platform-appropriate formats

We are not looking for heavily stylised or gimmicky editing. The content should feel premium, contemporary, authentic and product-focused , while still being engaging enough to hold attention on social media.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone with a strong visual eye and a genuine interest in fashion, textiles and commercial content creation.

You should have:

- Proven experience in fashion, textile, apparel, jewellery, lifestyle or product photography
- A strong understanding of studio lighting as well as natural light
- Experience photographing garments on models
- An understanding of how fabric, texture, colour and reflective surfaces behave under different lighting
- Strong composition and attention to detail
- Experience shooting vertical video for Instagram Reels / YouTube Shorts
- Strong video-editing skills and experience producing finished short-form content
- Working knowledge of Lightroom and Photoshop
- Proficiency in a professional video-editing tool such as Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro or equivalent
- Familiarity with professional camera,



lighting and audio equipment
- Positive time management and the ability to work efficiently through multiple products in a shoot
- Ability to take direction while also contributing your own ideas

Experience with sarees, Indian textiles, ethnicwear or luxury retail will be a strong advantage.

The Right Person

This role is particularly suited to someone who looks at a saree and instinctively starts thinking:

How should this be lit?

How should it be draped?

What detail needs to be seen up close?

What will make someone stop scrolling?

We're looking for someone who understands the difference between:

a photograph that looks good and a photograph that makes someone want to buy the product.

And similarly, between:

a video that is technically well shot and a video that people actually want to watch.

What You Will Be Responsible For

You should be comfortable owning the complete content workflow:

Concept → Plan → Shoot → Select → Edit → Colour Correct → Optimise → Deliver

We value consistency as much as creativity. The photographer/content creator should be able to develop a recognisable visual language for House of Sonal while adapting the treatment to different sarees and collections.

Engagement

This is a freelance, part-time, on-site engagement based primarily at our Jayanagar outlet.

Shoot days will be planned according to our content calendar and product requirements.

We are looking for someone interested in building a long-term working relationship with House of Sonal , rather than a one-off assignment.
