Experience: 3–8 Years in Industrial/Commercial Fire Protection Design

Education: B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or Fire & Safety Engineering (or equivalent)

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and technically sound Fire Protection System Design Engineer responsible for the end-to-end design of active fire protection systems. The candidate must have a strong grasp of Indian Standards (IS) and international codes (NFPA) along with the ability to perform hydraulic calculations, system layout, and review of drafting documents prior to client submission. The position requires expertise in fire pump room design, hydrant and sprinkler systems (including In-Rack), fire curtain networks, and HVWS/MVWS systems.

Key Responsibilities:

- Design and Engineering of the following systems:
- Fire Pump Room with proper pump capacity selection (hydrant & sprinkler duty) - Fire Hydrant Network (External & Internal)
- Sprinkler System Network (Wet, Dry, Pre-action)
- In-Rack Sprinkler System (Warehouse/Storage Facility Applications)
- Fire Curtain and Drenching Systems
- High Velocity Water Spray System (HVWS)
- Medium Velocity Water Spray System (MVWS)
- Prepare and review fire protection layouts, P&IDs;, schematic diagrams, and single-line drawings.
- Perform hydraulic calculations for pressure, flow rate, and pipe sizing using specialized software or manual methods.
- Selection of fire protection equipment (pumps, valves, nozzles, sprinklers, detectors, control panels,



etc.)
- Coordinate with drafting team and thoroughly review drawings before submission.
- Ensure design compliance with applicable standards and codes, such as: - IS 1501, IS 15325, IS 13039, IS 3844, IS 2190
- NFPA 10, 13, 14, 15, 20, 22, 25 and 72 as applicable
- Provide design clarifications to clients, consultants, and authority-having-jurisdiction (AHJ) during technical meetings or approvals.
- Prepare Bill of Materials (BOM), Technical Datasheets, Design Basis Reports, and other engineering documents.
- Support tendering teams with technical inputs and BOQ verification.

Key Skills & Competencies:

- Proficiency in designing various fire protection systems as per IS and NFPA. • Strong ability to interpret technical drawings, prepare hydraulic calculations, and select system components.
- Knowledge of fire detection and alarm system integration.
- Familiarity with software like AutoCAD, FireCad, Elite, or equivalent. • Thorough understanding of fire pump sizing, head loss calculation, zoning and flow path logic.
- Detail-oriented with excellent analytical and documentation skills. • Robust coordination and communication abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Certification in Fire Protection Design (NFPA, CFPS, etc.) is preferred. • Familiarity with factory prefabricated piping system integration will be an added advantage.
- Hands-on experience in coordination with local fire authorities for approvals (TAC / CFO / Fire Dept.).
