About the Role

We are looking for a Documentary Videographer & Video Editor to bring ordinary people’s lives to the screen. In this role, you will follow hardworking people, street vendors, local artists and craftspeople, capturing their daily routines, unique skills, family responsibilities, community life, challenges and achievements. You will handle the full process, from finding stories and planning visits to filming, editing the final documentary.

Job Details

- Experience: Minimum 3 years in videography and video editing.
- Salary: ₹25,000–₹40,000 per month, depending on experience and portfolio.
- Location: Bengaluru, Karnataka.
- Employment: Full-time, work from office, 6 days per week.
- Languages: Spoken Kannada and English are required.
- Travel: Required for filming.
- Filming schedule: Following someone’s full day may require filming between 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., once or twice a week. These days will be planned with breaks and agreed working arrangements.

Responsibilities

- Find and plan stories: Identify people, occupations, arts and crafts worth documenting. Speak with participants, understand their routine, prepare questions and arrange locations and filming permissions.
- Follow everyday life: Capture morning preparation, daily work, customer interactions, breaks and the end of the day. Include family and community life where participants agree, without disrupting their routine.
- Show skills and real experiences: Film the tools, techniques and effort behind unique crafts and arts.



Explore how people earn a living, overcome difficulties and take pride in their work. Show achievements and everyday joys alongside challenges.
- Conduct natural interviews: Speak with people in Kannada and English, ask thoughtful follow-up questions and help them feel comfortable. Get consent, respect private matters and avoid staging events or forcing emotional answers.
- Manage filming independently: Carry and set up cameras, lenses, microphones, lighting and stabilisers. Adapt to crowds, noise, changing light and weather. Keep batteries and storage ready, check recordings and capture clear sound and useful supporting footage.
- Edit the full documentary: Turn hours of footage into a focused story with a robust opening, natural flow and meaningful ending. Complete music, subtitles, suitable graphics, colour correction and audio cleanup while preserving the meaning of life story of hard working people.
- Check and deliver the final video: Verify names, facts and translations, use properly licensed material and review picture and sound quality. Organise files, back up footage after filming, share progress and finish revisions within agreed deadlines.

Skills and Experience

- At least 3 years of professional filming and editing experience, with a portfolio showing relevant long-form videos.
- Ability to interview confidently in Kannada and English and prepare or check English translation for Kannada conversations.
- Strong camera handling skills, including manual settings, lens selection, framing and using tripods or stabilisers.
- Good knowledge of lighting and microphone placement, including recording in busy outdoor locations.




- Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve, including colour and audio editing. After Effects experience is a plus.
- Ability to recognise meaningful moments and build an engaging, honest story. Documentary, craft, travel or community-based filming experience is a plus.
- Ability to manage fieldwork independently, meet deadlines and work with feedback. Patience, clear communication and readiness for travel and long filming days are essential.
