About The Role HCLSoftware is seeking a highly skilled Security Engineer to join our dynamic Security Engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for building, deploying, and maintaining security controls that safeguard our enterprise and cloud infrastructure.
This position is highly technical and hands-on, emphasizing configuration, coding, and integration over documentation. You will own end-to-end security platforms, ensuring their optimal performance through design, rollout, tuning, automation, and ongoing health monitoring.
The Security Engineer will collaborate closely with the Security Operations Center (SOC), Vulnerability Management, IT, and Cloud Engineering teams to enhance the security posture of our environment. Your efforts will directly impact the security resilience of our systems by leaving the environment better instrumented and more secure than you found it. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of security technology, implementing innovative solutions to complex security challenges in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications The ideal candidate will possess over five years of experience in security engineering, infrastructure security, or a related technical domain. Demonstrated ownership of multiple enterprise security platforms, from deployment through ongoing operations, is essential.
Candidates should have robust cloud security experience with at least one major cloud provider, including native security services and policy enforcement mechanisms.
Practical scripting skills in languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Go, along with familiarity with vendor APIs, are required.
A solid understanding of operating system internals, networking fundamentals, and identity protocols like SAML, OIDC, and OAuth is necessary.
Experience with infrastructure as code, version-controlled workflows, and troubleshooting complex environments is highly valued.
Preferred qualifications include experience with SIEM migrations, container and Kubernetes security, detection engineering, and automation with SOAR platforms. Relevant certifications such as AWS, Azure, GCP security certifications, GCED, GCIA, GDSA, or CISSP are advantageous but not mandatory.
Responsibilities Design, deploy, and maintain core security platforms, including endpoint detection and response (EDR), email security, secure service edge, cloud security posture management, and identity controls. Develop and implement control rollouts that address coverage gaps, handle exceptions, optimize performance, and support rollback procedures. Integrate security tools with SIEM and SOAR platforms to ensure telemetry data is actionable and response automation is effective.
Monitor control health metrics such as agent coverage, policy adherence, and enforcement efficacy, detecting silent failures and policy drift. Implement and manage security guardrails across cloud environments like AWS, Azure, and GCP, including policy enforcement, posture monitoring, and remediation workflows. Establish and maintain hardened baselines for operating systems, containers, and cloud services aligned with industry benchmarks such as CIS.
Engineer secrets management, key management, and certificate lifecycle controls in collaboration with platform teams. Support secure network design principles, including segmentation, egress controls, and remote access solutions. Automate security operations through scripting, APIs, and infrastructure as code,
ensuring configurations are version-controlled, peer-reviewed, and repeatably deployable.
Build integrations between security, IT, and engineering systems to facilitate seamless data flows, reducing manual effort. Document operational procedures and runbooks to enable efficient handover and operational continuity. Support incident response activities, including rapid control implementation, containment, and forensic data collection. Collaborate with Vulnerability Management to engineer scalable remediation processes and participate in on-call rotations for security incidents.
Contribute to audit and compliance activities by collecting and maintaining control evidence. For AI security engineering, implement guardrails for internal AI/LLM systems, protecting against prompt injection, model poisoning, and data exfiltration. Maintain and secure AI infrastructure, develop automation workflows leveraging AI/ML, and monitor AI tool usage to ensure governance adherence. Stay informed about emerging AI threats and adapt security controls accordingly.
