A restaurant captain is a front-of-house team leader who supervises floor service, manages an assigned station, and acts as the main link between guests, servers, and the kitchen.

Role Overview

- Job Title: Restaurant Captain (also called Service Captain or Head Waiter)

- Department: Food and Beverage (F&B;) Service

- Reports To: Restaurant Manager or F&B; Manager

- Supervises: Front waiters, back waiters, bussers, and servers.

Key Duties and Responsibilities Guest Service &

- Floor Management

- Greet guests warmly, manage table reservations, and escort customers to their seats.

- Take detailed food and beverage orders, offering expert menu and wine recommendations.

- Oversee the sequence of service (starters, mains, desserts) to ensure timely delivery.

- Check in with guests mid-meal to guarantee satisfaction and handle any complaints promptly.

- Process bills and payments accurately via the Point of Sale (POS) system.

Team Leadership &

- Training

- Conduct pre-shift briefings and team huddles to assign station duties and discuss VIP requests.

- Train junior servers and new staff on menu knowledge, service standards, and grooming.





- Guide and support floor staff during peak operational hours.

Operations &

- Standards

- Inspect the cleanliness and hygiene of table settings, glassware, cutlery, and side stations (mise-en-place).

- Coordinate directly with the kitchen and bar to communicate special dietary needs, allergies, or delays.

- Promote daily specials and high-margin items to drive upselling and boost revenue.

Required Qualifications &

- Skills

- Experience: 2 to 5 years of food and beverage service experience in a hotel or fine-dining restaurant.

- Education: Degree or diploma in hotel management or hospitality is preferred.

- Communication: Excellent verbal skills to interact professionally with guests and lead a team.

- Leadership: Robust problem-solving abilities and a calm demeanor under pressure.

- Technical Skills: Familiarity with POS systems and basic inventory management.

Pay: ₹18,000.00 - ₹22,000.00 per month
