About the Role The role involves working closely with the design, sampling, embroidery and production teams to develop luxury Indianwear collections.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop embroidery and surface designs for bridal, couture and occasionwear.
- Work on zardozi, aari, tambour, dabka, naqshi, salma-sitara, cutdana, resham, sequins, beads, applique, 3D florals, mukaish and other techniques.
- Develop motifs, butis, bels, jaals and garment placement designs.
- Create embroidery layouts, naksha, tracing and embroidery instructions.
- Develop swatches and coordinate with karigars and embroidery masters.
- Work from concept and mood board to final sample.
- Coordinate sampling, fittings, quality checks and production handover.
- Support costing, material selection and production planning.
- Maintain embroidery references, swatches and technical documentation.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of experience in Indianwear, bridal, couture or occasionwear.
- Strong knowledge of Indian embroidery techniques.
- Good understanding of embroidery construction, costing and execution.
- Strong understanding of colour, texture,
scale and placement.
- Good hand-sketching and embroidery motif development skills.
- Experience working with karigars and embroidery masters.
- Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
- CorelDRAW and Excel knowledge will be an advantage.
- Fashion Design degree/diploma from NIFT, Pearl, NID, Symbiosis or an equivalent institute preferred.
Portfolio Mandatory The portfolio should include:
- Original embroidery concepts and motifs
- Swatch development and surface experiments
- Embroidery layouts and naksha
- Placement development
- Finished garments
- Concept-to-final-sample development
- Techniques personally developed
