Role Overview
We are not hiring manual testers. We are looking for an Automation Quality Engineer who builds quality in someone who writes
the app-facing automation and contributes to the code that makes our mobile products testable and reliable. If you think of QE as
engineering writing code, owning frameworks, and shipping confidence with every release this role is for you. Seniority is
not the advantage here; maturity, smartness, and the ability to communicate clearly are what set candidates apart.
Key Responsibilities
Test Automation & Engineering
- Design, build, and maintain automated test suites for our mobile apps (Android and iOS) UI, functional, integration, and regression that run reliably in CI.
- Write real code alongside the team: build test utilities, harnesses, mocks, and the small pieces of app/service code that make features testable.
- Own the automation framework for your area keep it clean, fast, and low-maintenance rather than a source of flaky failures.
Mobile Quality & Coverage
- Own end-to-end quality for the features you cover, from reading the requirement to shaping the test strategy to signing off on the release.
- Test across the mobile surface: API and backend contracts behind the app, performance and responsiveness on real devices, offline/edge conditions, and cross-device/OS compatibility.
- Investigate failures to root cause, reproduce cleanly, and file reports crisp enough to need zero follow-up questions.
Quality in the Pipeline
- Integrate automated checks into the build and release pipeline so quality gates run automatically on every commit and deploy.
- Contribute to shift-left practices catching issues during the build, not after it.
- Explore AI-assisted testing to generate, maintain, and prioritize tests, and to auto-add coverage based on the nature of changes.
Collaboration & Communication
- Partner closely with developers during the build,
raising the bar on testability in design discussions and code reviews.
- Communicate defects, risks, and trade-offs clearly to developers, product, and leadership, in writing and in conversation.
Required Qualifications
- 2 to 5 years building test automation for mobile apps, or strong development skills with a genuine pull toward quality engineering.
- Comfort writing production-quality code able to read a codebase and contribute to it, not just test-only work.
- Hands-on experience with mobile test automation frameworks (e.g., Appium, Espresso/XCUITest, or Flutter integration testing our apps are built in Flutter) and API testing.
- Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and how automated tests fit into them.
- Solid fundamentals in at least one modern language (JavaScript/TypeScript, Dart, Python, or Java), version control (Git), and a working understanding of how mobile apps and their backend services interact.
- Excellent written and spoken communication explicit articulation and thoughtful, well-reasoned push-back.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field (or equivalent hands-on experience).
Preferred / Nice to Have
- Exposure to our stack or its neighbours: Flutter, Node.js, React, REST/MCP-based services.
- Experience with device farms or cloud device testing (BrowserStack, Sauce Labs, Firebase Test Lab).
- Familiarity with performance, accessibility, or security testing on mobile.
- Interest in AI-assisted testing using AI tools to generate, maintain, or prioritize tests.
Soft Skills / Traits
- Sharp judgment and quick learning matter more than years of experience.
- Strong communication and articulation, with technical and non-technical audiences alike.
- High ownership mentality treats the quality of every release as a personal responsibility.
- Comfortable operating with ambiguity in a fast-moving AI SaaS company.
- Collaborative works closely with engineering, product, and QA/DevOps teams.
