Role & responsibilities
Market & channel development
- Identify and prioritise export markets based on demand, tariffs, regulatory feasibility and competitive landscape.
- Appoint, onboard and manage importers, distributors and modern-trade partners; negotiate annual contracts, volume commitments and trade terms.
- Build the joint business plan for each market assortment, pricing ladder, launch calendar and promotional support.
- Represent the brand at international trade shows (Gulfood, SIAL, Anuga, Fancy Food Show or equivalent) and buyer meets.
Order-to-cash and logistics
- Manage the complete export cycle: enquiry, quotation, proforma invoice, order confirmation, production planning liaison, shipment and post-shipment documentation.
- Coordinate with freight forwarders and CHAs on container booking, [reefer/cold chain] handling, temperature protocols and transit timelines.
- Ensure documentation accuracy across commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading, certificate of origin, health/phytosanitary certificates and any market-specific attestations.
- Negotiate Incoterms and payment terms (LC, DP, DA, advance) that protect margin and cash flow; drive collections and keep overdues within agreed limits.
Compliance & product readiness
- Maintain licences and registrations IEC, [APEDA / FSSAI / DGFT] and destination-market approvals; keep the company audit-ready.
- Work with R&D;,
QA and packaging on label adaptation per destination regulation: ingredient declarations, nutrition panels, language requirements, shelf-life coding, [Halal / Kosher / organic] certification.
- Track changes in tariffs, FTAs, export incentives (RoDTEP, duty drawback) and non-tariff barriers; build them into pricing.
Commercial ownership
- Build export pricing from ex-works cost to landed cost by market; protect contribution margin against freight and FX movement.
- Own the annual export budget, monthly forecast and S&OP; inputs for export volumes.
- Report on market-wise revenue, margin, sell-through and receivables to leadership.
Preferred candidate profile
- 7–10 years in export sales, preferably FMCG / food & beverage / frozen and chilled products.
- Graduate in any discipline; MBA or a diploma in International Business / Export–Import Management is an advantage.
- Hands-on knowledge of export documentation, Incoterms 2020, customs procedures and letters of credit.
- Demonstrated record of appointing distributors and growing revenue in at least one region — [GCC, SE Asia, Africa, North America, UK/EU].
- Comfortable with cold chain logistics and shelf-life-sensitive products.
- Solid negotiation, written English and Excel skills; ERP exposure ([SAP / Tally / Zoho]) preferred.
- Valid passport; willing to travel and hold a clean visa record.
