Key Responsibilities
- Diagnostic Imaging: Interpret PET/CT, SPECT/CT, bone scans, and thyroid studies, correlating metabolic activity with clinical history.
- Therapeutic Administration: Prescribe and supervise targeted radionuclide therapies (such as Iodine-131, Lutetium-177, or Yttrium-90) for oncology and endocrinology care.
- Radiation Safety Oversight: Enforce strict compliance with national regulatory guidelines, such as Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB) standards and ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principles.
- Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Participate in tumor boards and work alongside oncologists, cardiologists, and surgeons to design treatment plans.
- Department Management: Oversee quality control of equipment,
manage radiopharmaceutical inventories, and mentor junior technologists.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: MBBS degree followed by an National Medical Commission recognized post-graduate qualification like MD, DM, or DNB in Nuclear Medicine.
- Licensure: Valid state medical council registration and an active AERB-approved Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) certification or license.
- Skills: Robust clinical judgment, precision in handling radioactive materials, and proficiency with DICOM and PACS imaging systems.
