Role Overview

The Chief Engineer will lead all engineering, maintenance, and statutory compliance functions for a premium hotel property. The role includes oversight of hotel systems as well as MEP coordination for retail stores undergoing fit-outs within the property.

Key Responsibilities

1. Engineering Operations

- Manage daily operation and maintenance of:
- HVAC systems, Chillers, AHUs, cooling towers
- Transformers and DG Sets
- Drainage and Plumbing maintenance and snag removal
- HT & LT Panels
- CCTV maintenance and fitment
- AFDS (Automatic Fire Detection System)
- Wet Risers, Fire Pumps, Hydrant Systems
- STP, WTP and utility systems
- Ensure uninterrupted functioning of all engineering systems across the hotel
- Track and monitor MIS and MMR

2. MEP Oversight for Store Fit-Outs

- Coordinate with store contractors to ensure compliance with hotel/Mall MEP standards
- Monitor site execution for:
- Electrical load allocation
- HVAC tapping and ducting
- Fire safety integration (sprinklers, detectors, alarms)
- Drainage, water supply, and exhaust systems
- Ensure all fit-outs meet statutory and safety norms before handover

3. Contract Management Engineering

- Manage AMCs, service contracts, and vendor performance for all engineering systems
- Prepare scope of work, technical specifications, and evaluation criteria for engineering contracts
- Negotiate rates, monitor SLAs, and ensure timely renewal of contracts




- Maintain documentation for audits, compliance, and procurement

4. Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM)

- Develop and implement a comprehensive PPM schedule for all equipment
- Ensure adherence to OEM guidelines and statutory requirements
- Track PPM completion, maintain logs, and ensure zero downtime for critical systems
- Use checklists, digital tools, or CMMS (if available) to monitor maintenance performance

5. Statutory Compliance & Safety

- Ensure 100% compliance with:
- Electrical safety norms
- Fire & life safety regulations
- Pollution control board requirements
- Vertical transport certifications
- Maintain readiness for internal and external audits

6. Energy Management & Billing

- Monitor energy consumption and implement cost-saving initiatives
- Prepare energy billing and consumption reports
- Optimize load distribution and ensure effective operation of utilities

7. Team Leadership

- Lead a team of engineers, supervisors, and technicians
- Conduct training on safety, equipment handling, and SOPs
- Ensure 24x7 engineering support for hotel operations

8. Coordination & Communication

- Work closely with GM, Housekeeping, F&B;, and Front Office
- Coordinate with tenants, contractors, and government authorities
- Ensure timely execution of engineering projects and fit-outs

Candidate Profile

- 10+ years of engineering experience in hotels or large commercial facilities
- Strong technical foundation in HVAC, electrical systems, fire safety, and utilities
- Experience in MEP coordination for fit-outs is highly preferred
- Strong contract management and vendor handling skills
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities
