Assistant Manager / Manager HR Legal & Employee Relations
Location: Bangalore

Qualification: LLB preferred / MBA or PGDM in HR with strong Labour Law & Employee Relations experience
Role Overview
We are looking for an HR professional with solid hands-on experience in Employee Relations, Labour Laws and HR Legal matters. The role will be responsible for managing employee-related cases, disciplinary matters, separation-related disputes and labour/legal matters in coordination with the HR and Legal teams.
The ideal candidate should have practical experience in handling cases such as absconding, notice-period violations, employee misconduct, termination disputes, recovery matters and labour complaints/cases.
Key Responsibilities
Employee Relations & Case Management
- Handle employee relations cases from initiation to closure.
- Manage cases related to absconding, absenteeism, misconduct, policy violations and disciplinary issues.
- Investigate employee complaints and disputes and recommend appropriate action.
- Coordinate with HRBPs, business teams and managers on sensitive employee matters.
- Maintain proper documentation and case records.
HR Legal & Labour Matters
- Handle employee cases involving notice-period non-compliance, recovery of notice pay, termination and separation disputes.
- Draft/review show-cause notices, warning letters, charge sheets, termination letters and other legal/HR communications.
- Provide guidance to HR teams on appropriate and legally compliant actions.
- Support cases involving Labour Department, Labour Commissioner, Labour Court and other statutory authorities.
- Coordinate with external advocates/legal counsel on employee-related cases.
Termination & Disciplinary Proceedings
- Support end-to-end disciplinary processes, including investigation, documentation and issuance of notices.
- Ensure termination and other disciplinary actions are carried out in line with company policy and applicable laws.
- Handle employee representations,
grievances and disputes arising from disciplinary actions.
- Support domestic enquiry proceedings, wherever applicable.
Litigation & Legal Notice Management
- Coordinate responses to legal notices received from employees/ex-employees.
- Prepare case summaries, employee history, supporting documents and factual briefs for external lawyers.
- Track ongoing employee/labour cases and ensure timely follow-up.
- Maintain a tracker of legal notices, disputes, cases and their status.
Labour Law Compliance
- Keep abreast of applicable labour and employment laws.
- Support HR in identifying and mitigating legal risks in employee-related processes.
- Review HR processes and documentation from a labour-law perspective.
- Support implementation of changes arising from amendments to labour laws.
Candidate Profile
Must-have experience:
- 4–8 years of experience in HR Employee Relations / HR Legal / Labour Relations / Industrial Relations.
- Hands-on experience handling employee disputes and disciplinary cases.
- Experience dealing with absconding, notice-period recovery, termination and separation-related cases.
- Exposure to Labour Courts / Labour Commissioner / labour authorities and coordination with external lawyers.
- Good understanding of Indian Labour & Employment Laws.
- Strong drafting, documentation and communication skills.
Preferred:
- LLB / LLM qualification.
- Experience in a large employee-base organisation, preferably Retail, F&B;, Hospitality, FMCG, Manufacturing or other multi-location businesses.
