Role & responsibilities
Teaching & Learning
- Plan and deliver age-appropriate lessons aligned with the CBSE curriculum and school academic plan.
- Build strong foundations in language, numeracy, environmental awareness and general learning skills.
- Use stories, activities, games, conversations, projects and hands-on learning to make lessons engaging.
- Develop students' reading, writing, speaking, listening, observation and problem-solving skills.
- Differentiate instruction based on students' learning levels and provide additional support where required.
- Encourage curiosity, independence, confidence and positive learning habits.
Student Care & Classroom Management
- Create a safe, nurturing and well-organised classroom environment.
- Support students' social, emotional and behavioural development.
- Establish clear routines, expectations and age-appropriate discipline.
- Observe individual student needs and provide academic or pastoral support as required.
- Encourage positive manners, hygiene, responsibility, teamwork and respect for others.
Assessment & Parent Communication
- Assess student progress through classwork, activities, observations and periodic assessments.
- Maintain accurate records, student portfolios and required academic documentation.
- Identify learning gaps and implement suitable support strategies.
- Communicate student progress, strengths and concerns effectively during PTMs and parent interactions.
- Work collaboratively with parents to support each child's development.
School Responsibilities
- Attend assemblies, staff meetings, training programmes and academic planning meetings.
- Participate in PTMs, school events, annual functions, celebrations, trips and competitions.
- Support House activities, classroom displays, theme days and co-curricular programmes.
- Undertake substitution classes, student supervision and dispersal duties when assigned.
- Maintain lesson plans, registers, classroom records and other required documentation.
- Support admissions interactions, orientation programmes and school initiatives when required.
- Follow school policies on discipline, safeguarding, child protection, attendance and professional conduct.
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues and contribute positively to the school community.
Preferred candidate profile
Essential
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline.
- B.Ed., D.El.Ed., NTT, ECCE or recognised teaching qualification, depending on the grade level.
- Strong spoken and written English.
- Ability to teach young learners with patience, clarity and creativity.
- Good classroom management and communication skills.
- Understanding of child development and age-appropriate teaching practices.
- Comfortable using educational technology and digital teaching tools.
- Caring, organised, observant and student-focused.
Preferred
- Previous experience as a Mother Teacher / Primary Teacher / Homeroom Teacher in a CBSE school.
- Experience teaching foundational or early-primary grades.
- Familiarity with activity-based, experiential and competency-based learning.
- Experience with storytelling, phonics, foundational literacy and numeracy.
- Experience handling parent communication and student portfolios.
