We are seeking a QA Automation Engineer to design, build and maintain reliable automated quality coverage for modern web applications using Playwright. Location requirement

The role may be aligned to Pune, Hyderabad, Bengaluru or Chennai based on project allocation. PAN India candidates may be considered, subject to final work-location requirements confirmed by Client.

Role responsibilities

- Analyse requirements, acceptance criteria, solution designs and production risks to create an effective test approach and traceable coverage.
- Develop and maintain Playwright automation using Type Script or Java Script and reusable fixtures, page or component abstractions, utilities and test data strategies.
- Automate functional, regression, smoke, integration and cross-browser tests across Chromium, Firefox and Web Kit as required.
- Use resilient locators, web-first assertions, controlled waits and test isolation practices to reduce flaky tests.
- Develop API-level tests and use API calls to prepare state or validate server-side outcomes where appropriate.
- Integrate automated tests into CI pipelines, configure projects and parallel execution, and publish actionable reports and artifacts.
- Perform exploratory and risk-based testing for areas not suited to automation and document clear evidence.
- Log reproducible defects with impact, steps,

data, logs, screenshots or traces and work with developers through resolution.
- Review automation code, monitor suite health and improve execution time, reliability, maintainability and diagnostic quality.
- Participate in planning, refinement, release readiness and root-cause analysis with product and engineering teams.

Required qualifications and experience

- Hands-on Playwright automation experience using Type Script or Java Script.
- Strong knowledge of test design, web application behaviour, DOM, HTTP, REST APIs and browser developer tools.
- Experience with locators, fixtures, assertions, authentication state, network handling, parallel execution and debugging.
- Ability to build maintainable automation frameworks and diagnose flaky or workplace-dependent failures.
- Working knowledge of Git, package management and CI execution.
- Strong defect reporting, analytical thinking and stakeholder communication.

Preferred qualifications

- Experience with accessibility, visual regression, performance or security-focused testing.
- Knowledge of SQL, Docker, cloud test environments and service virtualisation or mocking.
- Migration experience from Selenium, Cypress or another automation stack to Playwright.
- Experience defining quality metrics and coaching team members on testability and automation practices.

Expected professional capabilities

- Ownership and structured problem solving
- Clear written and verbal communication
- Ability to collaborate across business and technical teams
- Commitment to code, configuration or test quality
- Ability to work within client delivery, security and compliance processes
