What Youll Be Doing (position summary):
As a Software Engineer II, you will leverage your expertise in Power Platform, Data Verse, API Integrations, Azure/Entra ID, and Git Hub Copilot to design, develop, and maintain business-critical applications and automation solutions. You will be responsible for building secure, scalable, and efficient solutions that integrate cloud and identity services, automate workflows, and enhance operational effectiveness. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will translate business and technical requirements into robust technical solutions, drive innovation through automation and modern engineering practices, and ensure delivery aligns with strategic business objectives. This role emphasizes hands-on technical delivery, process improvement, and continuous learning, supporting CIBCs global technology initiatives and operational excellence This role is part of CIBC India, our newly established office that supports our U.S. and Canadian businesses through global collaboration, technology expertise and operational excellence.

How Youll Succeed (responsibilities):
Delivery: Deliver projects with moderate oversight, owning outcomes, scope, and task delegation. Translate goals into clear technical tasks, make decisions within defined parameters, and ensure delivery aligns with departmental objectives and timelines.
Technical Excellence: Design and implement secure, scalable solutions using Power Platform (including Power Apps, Power Automate), Data Verse, and Azure/Entra ID. Develop and integrate APIs to connect systems and automate workflows. Drive automation, comprehensive testing, CI/CD, and observability, while reducing technical debt and improving performance and reliability. Leverage Git Hub Copilot to accelerate development and support best practices.
Industry and Domain Impact: Apply banking product and regulatory knowledge to shape solutions and initiatives. Leverage current industry trends to drive measurable process and product improvements, making data-driven trade-offs and recommendations.
Risk and Compliance: Participate in project-level risk assessments, define and execute mitigation plans, and embed security/privacy-by-design. Ensure adherence to policies and regulatory requirements, stay current on regulatory changes, and partner with Compliance and Audit for effective oversight

Experience: 4-6 years of experience
Who You Are (skills/qualifications):
- Degree/diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS, or related field or relevant certifications and/or completion of a relevant bootcamp
- 4-6 years of related experience OR combination of education and experience, ideally within financial services or tech
- In-depth knowledge of banking products, services, and industry regulations; understanding of current industry trends and developments; ability to apply industry knowledge to improve processes and services
- Works independently with minimal oversight; manages own workload and priorities; provides regular updates to supervisors
- Ability to make data-driven recommendations within domain to address complex problems
- Conduct risk assessments and develop recommendations for risk mitigation within domain
- Conduct basic compliance checks within domain; provide recommendations for compliance improvements; ensure adherence to regulatory standards in their work; work closely with Compliance and Audit teams
- Experience with Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate), Data Verse, and Azure/Entra ID for application development, automation, and identity management
- Experience designing, developing, and integrating APIs for system connectivity and workflow automation
- Proficiency with Git Hub Copilot and version control systems (e.g., Git) for cooperative development, code review, and documentation management
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and Dev Ops practices to support efficient software delivery
- Strong influencing, relationship management, and networking skills; able to build credibility and drive results through collaboration
- Digitally savvy and innovative; adapts quickly to new tools, technologies, and trends
- Client-focused team player with robust judgment and partnership skills
- Highly accountable, with ownership of delivery, quality, and outcomes
- Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and software design principles
- Proficiency with version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative development practices
- Develop and maintain complex SQL queries to extract, transform, and load data from various sources.
- Research and analyze business requests, recommend solutions, and prepare design specifications in collaboration with senior team members.
- Utilize AI-powered development tools (such as Git Hub Copilot) to improve code efficiency, accelerate development, and support best practices.
- Dev Ops exposure (CI/CD and modern engineering practices) preferred.
- Experience in branching, merging, and pull request workflows to support efficient software development and team collaboration.
- Client-focused, goal-oriented, and continuous learner with strong values alignment (trust, teamwork, accountability)
