Position: Sr. Technician – Plant Maintenance

Reporting To: Maintenance Engineer / Engineering Manager

Location: Plant / Factory

Experience: 5–8 years in industrial/plant maintenance

Qualification: ITI / Diploma in Electrical, Mechanical, or relevant technical discipline

1. Job Purpose

Responsible for the smooth and reliable operation of plant equipment, electrical systems, utilities, and machinery by carrying out preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance activities. The role will ensure minimum equipment downtime, safe working practices, and timely completion of maintenance activities.

2. Key Responsibilities

Maintenance &

- Equipment

- Carry out preventive and breakdown maintenance of plant machinery and equipment.

- Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and utility-related equipment faults.

- Attend breakdowns and restore equipment operation within the minimum possible time.

- Conduct regular inspection of machines, panels, motors, pumps, compressors, HVAC, refrigeration, DG, and other utility equipment.

- Ensure proper functioning of electrical panels, MCCs, DBs, motors, starters, VFDs, sensors, and control systems.

- Coordinate with external vendors/contractors for specialized maintenance activities.

- Maintain critical spare parts and inform the reporting manager about required spares.

Preventive Maintenance

- Execute the preventive maintenance schedule as per the approved plan.

- Maintain PM checklists, equipment history, breakdown records, and maintenance logs.





- Identify recurring failures and recommend corrective actions.

- Monitor equipment condition and highlight potential failures before breakdown.

Electrical &
- Utilities

- Handle LT electrical systems, distribution panels, MCCs, DG sets, transformers, UPS, and related equipment.

- Monitor electrical load, voltage, current, power factor, and equipment performance.

- Support maintenance of refrigeration, HVAC, compressors, pumps, water systems, and other plant utilities.

- Ensure proper cable termination, earthing, and electrical safety.

Safety &
- Compliance

- Follow all plant safety procedures, PPE requirements, LOTO, and electrical safety practices.

- Ensure maintenance work is carried out safely and as per approved SOPs.

- Report unsafe conditions, electrical hazards, and equipment abnormalities immediately.

- Support statutory inspections and compliance-related maintenance activities.

Documentation &
- Coordination

- Maintain daily maintenance reports and equipment breakdown records.

- Update PM status and ensure 100% completion within the defined timeline.

- Coordinate with Production/Operations teams for equipment shutdowns and maintenance activities.

- Guide junior technicians and helpers during maintenance activities.





- Ensure proper housekeeping at the maintenance/work area.

Required Technical

Skills

- Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems and plant maintenance.

- Good troubleshooting skills for motors, starters, contactors, relays, VFDs, sensors, and control panels.

- Knowledge of DG, transformer, MCC, DB, UPS, HVAC/refrigeration, pumps, and compressors.

- Ability to read electrical drawings and wiring diagrams.

- Knowledge of preventive and breakdown maintenance practices.

- Basic knowledge of PLC and automation systems will be an advantage.

- Good understanding of electrical safety, LOTO, and maintenance procedures.

5.

Preferred Candidate

Profile

- 5–8 years of experience in manufacturing, food production, warehouse, FMCG, or similar plant maintenance.

- Solid hands-on troubleshooting capability.

- Ability to work independently and handle emergency breakdown situations.

- Good communication and coordination skills.

- Willingness to work in shifts and during emergency breakdowns, as required.

- Team-handling and junior technician guidance experience preferred.
