About the Role

Senior Software Engineer Senior Software Engineer – Python & Embedded Linux

- Experience: 5–7 Years
- Location: Hyderabad

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer with strong expertise in Python, Embedded Linux and hardware integration to work on the development of an advanced Fire Control System (FCS). The system runs on an NXP i.MX8M Plus platform and integrates multiple sensors including Thermal Camera, Laser Range Finder (LRF), IMU and LoRa communication modules.

Responsibilities

- Develop embedded applications primarily using Python
- Develop and maintain software on the NXP i.MX8M Plus platform
- Work with Embedded Linux, Linux Kernel, BSP and Yocto
- Configure, customize and maintain Yocto-based Linux images
- Integrate and interface Thermal Cameras, LRF, IMU, LoRa and other sensors
- Develop hardware interfaces using UART, SPI, I2C, USB, Ethernet and related protocols
- Acquire, process and synchronize data from multiple sensors
- Debug software, Linux, driver and hardware-integration issues
- Work closely with electronics and system engineering teams
- Participate in system integration, testing and field trials

Qualifications

- Qualification: B.E./B.Tech/M.E./M.Tech in Computer Science, Electronics, ECE, Embedded Systems or related disciplines.
- Experience: 5 to 8 Years

Required Skills

- 5–7 years of relevant embedded software development experience
- Excellent Python programming skills




- Strong experience with Embedded Linux
- Strong understanding of Linux Kernel
- Experience with Board Support Package (BSP) development/customization
- Hands-on experience with Yocto Project
- Experience with NXP i.MX series / ARM-based processors
- Good knowledge of C/C++
- Experience with device drivers and hardware interfaces
- Knowledge of UART, SPI, I2C, USB, Ethernet and TCP/IP
- Experience integrating sensors and electronic hardware
- Multithreading, multiprocessing and socket programming
- Ability to understand hardware schematics, sensor datasheets and communication protocols
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills

Preferred Skills

- Experience with NXP i.MX8M Plus
- OpenCV / GStreamer / Camera SDK integration
- Thermal camera and video-stream integration
- IMU and sensor data processing
- Device Tree configuration
- U-Boot / bootloader understanding
- Git and software version control
- Experience in Defence, Robotics, Aerospace, UAV, Automotive or similar embedded systems

Candidate Profile

We are looking for an engineer who can understand the complete system — application software, Linux platform, electronics and sensors — rather than working only at the application layer. The candidate should be capable of independently developing software, configuring the embedded Linux platform, integrating hardware and troubleshooting issues across the application, OS, driver and hardware layers.
