nRole Summary and purpose
nThe Senior Employee Relations Specialist – Healthcare & RCM will be responsible for managing complex employee relations matters across Revenue Cycle Management operations. The role ensures fair, compliant, and consistent handling of workplace issues while balancing associate safety, regulatory requirements, and operational productivity. This position requires solid investigation skills, healthcare/RCM domain understanding, knowledge of labour laws, and the ability to partner with operations, compliance, and quality leaders.
nKey Responsibilities
nEmployee Relations & Investigations
nLead investigations related to:
nWorkplace behavior, harassment, and discrimination
nConduct issues
nHIPAA-related violations, confidentiality breaches
nFraud, coding inaccuracies, and RCM-sensitive concerns
nComplaints involving behaviour
nConduct meetings with employees, supervisors, and cross-functional stakeholders.
nDocument findings, recommend actions, and ensure closure with minimal business disruption.
nRCM-Specific Responsibilities
nSupport ER issues within RCM teams:
nBilling
nCoding
nAR follow-up
nPatient access
nRegistration & authorization
nAddress performance issues tied to:
nProductivity metrics (DNFB, TAT, collections, coding accuracy)
nQuality scores and audit findings
nCompliance and payer-specific regulations
nPartner with Quality, Operations, and Compliance to ensure alignment with revenue cycle controls.
nCompliance & Policy Governances within RCM teams:
nEnsure adherence to:
nHealthcare regulations (HIPAA, privacy)
nHealthcare accreditation requirements (NABH/JCI)
nLabor laws and statutory requirements
nAssist in developing, updating, and socializing HR and ER policies relevant to healthcare and RCM environments.
nGuide leaders when applying disciplinary frameworks for sensitive issues.
nPerformance & Conduct Management
nAdvise managers in handling:
nLow performance
nAttendance and scheduling concerns (especially for 24/7 operations)
nBehavioral and professionalism issues
nMisconduct impacting revenue operations
nSupport corrective action processes including counselling, PIPs, and terminations.
nStakeholder & Leadership Advisory
nPartner with Operations Heads, and Compliance teams.
nCoach frontline leaders on conflict resolution, documentation, and handling grievance conversations.
nIdentify ER hotspots within departments and recommend preventive strategies.
nEngagement, Culture & Workforce Stability
nSupport initiatives aimed at:
nReducing attrition in high-volume functions like patient access or AR
nImproving morale among RCM teams
nEnhancing communication between shifts and cross-functional teams
nParticipate in culture-building, rewards programs, and engagement surveys.
nTraining & Capability Building
nDeliver training on:
nWorkplace conduct & behavior
nRespectful workplace & anti-harassment
nHIPAA awareness for non-clinical staff
nDocumentation & record-keeping best practices
nConflict management for supervisors
nBuild leader capability to handle ER issues independently and confidently.
nData & Insights
nMaintain ER dashboards with trends from:
nAttendance & lateness
nRCM productivity-linked escalations
nGrievances and engagement feedback
nProvide insights to leadership on risk areas and recommend targeted interventions.
nQualifications & Experience
nRequired:
nBachelor's degree in HR, Business, Healthcare Administration, or related field.
n8–10 years of HR experience, with at least 3–5 years in healthcare or RCM sector.
nStrong experience in ER investigations, including compliance-related and conduct issues.
nWorking knowledge of HIPAA, patient rights, and healthcare workplace norms.
nPreferred:
nHR certifications (SHRM-CP/SCP, PHR/SPHR).
nExperience in healthcare RCM companies.
nExposure to healthcare audits or accreditation processes (NABH/JCI)
nSkills & Competencies
