About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on NPD & VAVE Mechanical Engineer with 7–10 years of experience in mechanical product design, new product development, and value engineering/cost reduction.

The role involves developing and improving industrial fire-safety and nitrogen-generation products, with a strong focus on pneumatic systems, compressors, pressure systems, sheet-metal enclosures, skids, valves, tubing, manifolds, and mechanical components.

The ideal candidate should have experience taking products from requirements and concept development through CAD design, prototyping, testing, BOM/drawing release, and production support.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead mechanical design activities for NPD, redesign, sustenance, and VAVE projects.
- Perform product teardown, benchmarking, functional analysis, BOM analysis, and cost-reduction studies.
- Develop concepts for part-count reduction, material substitution, component commonization, and design simplification.
- Design and optimize pneumatic and pressure systems including compressors, valves, regulators, filters, tanks, tubing, fittings, manifolds, and seals.
- Perform engineering calculations related to flow, pressure drop, leakage, loads, vibration, thermal effects, and structural integrity.
- Design sheet-metal cabinets, enclosures, brackets, skids, mounts, guards, and vibration-isolation systems.
- Create SolidWorks 3D models, assemblies, sheet-metal designs, manufacturing drawings, GD&T;, BOMs, and engineering documentation.
- Apply DFM/DFA, tolerance analysis, DFMEA, root-cause analysis, and design-for-cost principles.
- Drive prototypes, fitment checks, assembly trials, design reviews, testing, and corrective actions.
- Support supplier development,



RFQs, component qualification, tooling, production trials, and product launches.
- Prepare and implement engineering changes through ECO/ECN and PDM/PLM processes.
- Support validation activities including pressure, leak, flow, vibration, endurance, temperature, and serviceability testing.
- Identify product improvements using field-return, warranty, production, and service data.
- Develop measurable VAVE initiatives and support implementation of cost-saving opportunities.

Required Skills & Experience

- 7–10 years of experience in mechanical product design, NPD, and VAVE/cost reduction.
- Strong hands-on experience with SolidWorks for part, assembly, sheet-metal, routing, and manufacturing drawings.
- Experience with compressors, pneumatic systems, pressure vessels, valves, regulators, filters, tubing, fittings, manifolds, and seals.
- Strong knowledge of sheet-metal design, industrial equipment packaging, skids, brackets, mounts, and vibration isolation.
- Positive understanding of GD&T;, tolerance stack-up, DFM/DFA, DFMEA, DVP&R;, and root-cause analysis.
- Practical experience in product teardown, prototyping, measurement, fitment, assembly trials, and design troubleshooting.
- Working knowledge of VAVE, design-to-cost, benchmarking, should-costing, material/process substitution, and component commonization.
- Experience with BOM management, engineering drawings, PDM/PLM, configuration control, and engineering change processes.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Experience with industrial, electromechanical, fire-safety, pneumatic, or similar products will be preferred.
