Designation: Lab Technician

Reporting To: Laboratory In-charge / Lab Manager / Pathologist

Location: PonMalligai Hospital, Adambakkam

Job Purpose To perform laboratory tests accurately and efficiently, maintain proper documentation, ensure quality and safety standards, and support timely reporting of patient investigations.

Key Responsibilities

- Collect blood, urine, and other clinical samples as per standard procedures.
- Receive, identify, label, process, and store samples appropriately.
- Perform routine laboratory investigations as per assigned section and competency.
- Operate laboratory equipment and analyzers safely and correctly.
- Perform internal quality control and maintain QC records.
- Identify and report abnormal or critical values to the concerned doctor / Pathologist as per hospital policy.
- Ensure proper maintenance, cleaning, and calibration checks of laboratory equipment.
- Maintain laboratory registers, worksheets, reports, and other required records.
- Follow NABH, biomedical waste management, infection control, and laboratory safety requirements.
- Handle reagents, chemicals, and consumables safely and monitor expiry dates.
- Ensure proper sample storage and disposal as per SOP.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information and laboratory reports.
- Coordinate with doctors, nurses, front office, and other departments for timely sample processing and reporting.




- Immediately report equipment breakdown, reagent shortage, QC failure, or any laboratory incident to the Lab In-charge.
- Participate in audits, training, competency assessment, and quality improvement activities.
- Perform other laboratory-related duties assigned by the management / Lab In-charge.

Required Qualification
- DMLT / B.Sc. MLT / equivalent recognized qualification.
- Valid registration/certification wherever applicable.
- Previous hospital/diagnostic laboratory experience preferred.

Required Skills
- Valuable knowledge of laboratory procedures and sample handling.
- Basic computer knowledge and LIS familiarity.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to work in shifts, including night shifts if required.
- Accuracy, attention to detail, and commitment to patient safety.

Working Hours: As per hospital duty roster

Employment: Full-time / Shift basis

Pay: ₹12,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
