Role Description This is a full time, on-site role based in Bengaluru for an Engineer – Strategic Sourcing | Metal Manufacturing & NPD. The role involves identifying, evaluating, and developing suppliers for precision metal components such as castings, forgings, and machined parts, with a focus on cost, quality, delivery, and risk mitigation. The engineer collaborates closely with design, manufacturing, quality, and commercial teams to support new product development (NPD), including sourcing for prototypes and transitioning successful designs into stable volume production.

Daily responsibilities include RFQ preparation, technical and commercial bid analysis, supplier audits, and coordination of trial runs and PPAP or equivalent qualification processes.



The role also requires monitoring supplier performance, driving continuous improvement, and supporting global customers with reliable and transparent supply chain solutions.

Qualifications

- Strong knowledge of metal manufacturing processes, including castings, forgings, and CNC machining, with the ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Experience in strategic sourcing or supply chain management for engineered components, including supplier identification, evaluation, negotiation, and performance management.
- Exposure to new product development (NPD), rapid prototyping, and transitioning from prototype to production, preferably in precision engineering or industrial manufacturing.
- Familiarity with quality standards and tools (e.g., ISO, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC) and experience working with quality and production teams to resolve manufacturing issues.
- Proficiency in using ERP or purchasing systems, and strong skills in data analysis, cost modeling, and total cost of ownership evaluation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline; advanced technical certifications in sourcing or manufacturing are an advantage.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to coordinate across engineering, operations, commercial, and supplier teams.
- Demonstrated problem-solving mindset, attention to detail, and ability to work on-site in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment in Bengaluru.
