Database Administrator (DBA)

Location - Mohali, Punjab, India

Experience - 3–5 Years

Role Purpose

n

Manage, maintain, and optimize database systems supporting Americana's business-critical applications, ensuring high availability, performance, security, and compliance across on-premise and cloud (Azure/Oracle) environments.

n

Key Responsibilities

n

n
- Administer and maintain MS SQL Server and Oracle Database instances across production, UAT, and dev environments
n
- Monitor database performance, tune queries/indexes, and resolve bottlenecks proactively
n
- Manage backup, recovery, and disaster recovery (DR) strategies; conduct periodic DR drills
n
- Implement and maintain database security — user roles, access controls, encryption, audit logging
n
- Support Azure SQL Database / Managed Instance provisioning, scaling, and cost optimization
n
- Collaborate with application teams (Flutter/.NET/Oracle OIC) on schema design, data modeling, and integration performance
n
- Manage patching, version upgrades, and capacity planning
n
- Set up and maintain monitoring/alerting (Azure Monitor, SQL Profiler, OEM) for proactive issue detection
n
- Support data migration activities during platform modernization projects
n
- Maintain documentation: runbooks,



SOPs, DR plans, and change records
n
- Participate in on-call rotation for production incident support (P1/P2)
n

Required Skills & Experience

n

Core DB - MS SQL Server (mandatory); Oracle DB exposure preferred

n

Cloud - Azure (SQL DB/Managed Instance, Azure Monitor); Oracle Cloud exposure a plus

n

Skills - Backup/recovery, HA/DR (Always On, replication), performance tuning, T-SQL/PL-SQL

n

Tools - SSMS, Oracle Enterprise Manager, monitoring/alerting tools

n

Domain - Retail/QSR or FMCG industry experience preferred (not mandatory)

n

Soft Skills - Incident ownership, cross-team collaboration, transparent documentation habits

n

Preferred / Nice-to-Have

n

- Exposure to Oracle Fusion HCM/SCM/Finance data structures
n
- Scripting for automation (PowerShell/Python)
n
- ITIL-based incident/change management exposure
n
- Basic understanding of application layer (Flutter/.NET) to support integration troubleshooting
n

Education & Certifications

n

n
- B.E./B.Tech/MCA in Computer Science, IT, or related field
n
- Certifications (preferred, not mandatory): Microsoft Azure Database Administrator Associate (DP-300), Oracle OCP
