Role & responsibilities

Own core backend services for a fintech product currently in stealth/pre-launch development. You'll design and build REST/SSE APIs, work on data modeling for interconnected financial entities (accounts, transactions, cross-module relationships like income, spend, savings, investments), integrate data pipelines from external sources (bank/card partner APIs, account aggregation, email/SMS parsing), and collaborate closely with our mobile/frontend dev and designer to ship full features end-to-end not just backend contracts.

Key responsibilities:
Design and build REST/SSE APIs powering core product features
Model and maintain a graph-like data domain (accounts, transactions, categories, cross-entity relationships)
Integrate third-party and partner data pipelines
Write clean, tested, production-grade Python
Make sound calls on data modeling, performance, and security for a product handling sensitive financial data
Work cross-functionally with mobile/frontend and design to ship complete features

Robust Python fundamentals as a baseline,



with hands-on experience in a backend framework (FastAPI, Django, or Flask) and relational databases (Postgres preferred) comfortable with schema design and writing productive queries. Solid understanding of REST API design; experience with SSE/websockets for streaming is a plus. Enough full-stack fluency to read and modify a frontend (React or Flutter) and understand how an API will actually be consumed. Comfortable reasoning about interconnected data models rather than straightforward CRUD. Disciplined about git and testing, and writes code that's readable months later.

Nice to have: fintech/banking/financial-data experience, AI/LLM integration experience (tool calling, RAG, streaming responses), exposure to India's Account Aggregator framework.

We also value candidates who use AI coding tools (Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor, etc.) efficiently and can be transparent about how they use them — that's treated as a genuine plus in our evaluation, not a shortcut we penalize.
