Role & responsibilities
Optimize heat treatment cycles to achieve specified mechanical and metallurgical properties.
Monitor and improve product yield by minimizing distortion, cracking, decarburization, oxidation, and rejections during heat treatment.
Develop, implement, and periodically review Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Control Plans, Process Flow Charts, and Work Instructions for standardized heat treatment operations.
Establish and monitor critical process parameters such as furnace temperature, soaking time, quenching media, cooling rates, and atmosphere control.
Conduct material characterization including metallography, microstructure evaluation, hardness testing, tensile testing, impact testing, case depth measurement, and grain size analysis.
Perform steel material analysis to verify chemical composition, heat treatment response, and compliance with customer specifications and international standards.




Investigate product failures and heat treatment defects through metallurgical analysis and implement effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). • Monitor furnace performance, calibration, temperature uniformity surveys (TUS), and system accuracy tests (SAT) to ensure process reliability and compliance.
Prepare technical reports, metallurgical test reports, process capability studies, customer documentation, and management MIS for performance review.
Support current product development by recommending suitable material grades, heat treatment processes, and validating product performance through metallurgical testing.

Preferred candidate profile
Industry experience: Experience in Steel Metallurgy, Heat Treatment, Material Characterization.
Educational requirement: B.E./B.Tech in Materials Science & Engineering / Metallurgical Engineering.
Required experience: 5 to 7 years.
