Role: Lead Engineer (Ruby on Rails)

Location: Guindy, Chennai
Experience: 11 to 17 Years

About the role

The team is responsible for safely separating, migrating and integrating Carwows technology landscape.

As a Software Engineer, you will help move production services and data from shared platforms into independently operated infrastructure, while keeping customer and dealer journeys reliable throughout the transition. You will work across application code, cloud infrastructure, data flows and third-party integrations, collaborating closely with engineers, product teams and platform specialists on both sides of the integration.

What you’ll do
Design, build and operate reliable services and integrations across a distributed marketplace landscape
Support application, database and infrastructure migrations with minimal downtime and explicit rollback paths
Work with event-driven systems, APIs, background jobs and data pipelines
Improve deployment automation, observability, security and operational ownership
Contribute to technical decisions, documentation, testing and pragmatic engineering standards




Collaborate effectively in a cross-company environment during carve-out and integration activities

What you bring
11+ years of skilled software engineering experience in production environments
Solid backend development experience, ideally with Ruby/Rails and JVM-based services
Practical experience with PostgreSQL, Redis/Memcached, Elasticsearch and Kafka/Kafka Connect
Hands-on cloud and infrastructure experience, especially AWS — including S3, KMS and DynamoDB — plus Terraform and Docker/container registries
Experience with CI/CD and source control, preferably GitHub & GitHub Actions
Familiarity with web delivery and platform services such as Fastly, DNS and CDN technologies.
Experience integrating external systems and APIs, including authentication and credentials management (for example Auth0, CRM, payments or vehicle-data providers)
A valuable understanding of observability, incident response and production operations, using tools such as Honeycomb, Bugsnag and PagerDuty or equivalents
A pragmatic, security-conscious approach and the ability to communicate clearly across technical and non-technical teams
