Key Responsibilities
Assess and manage patients with acute kidney injury (AKI)chronic kidney disease (CKD)electrolyte abnormalitiesacid-base disordersand hypertension .
Participate in the management of nephrology emergencies including severe hyperkalemiapulmonary edemauremiaand rapidly deteriorating renal function.
Assist in the care of patients receiving hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis .
Perform comprehensive history takingphysical examinationclinical documentatiod daily patient reviews.
Request and interpret relevant laboratoryimagingand renal investigations.
Assist consultants with procedures such as central venous catheter insertionrenal biopsyand dialysis-related procedures where appropriately trained and supervised.
Monitor patients beforeduringand after dialysis and promptly identify complications.
Coordinate referrals and care with ICUemergency medicinecardiology endocrinology urology and other specialties.
Communicate effectively with patients and relatives regarding diagnosistreatment plansand clinical progress.
Maintain accurate medical recordsdischarge summariesand treatment documentation.
Participate in on-callemergencyand ward duties according to the hospital rota.
Follow hospital policies regarding infection preventionpatient safetymedication useand clinical goverce.
Participate in teachingauditscase discussionscontinuing medical educatiod departmental academic activities.
