Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced VMC Operator with around 2 years of experience in a precision
engineering/manufacturing environment. The candidate will be responsible for operating Vertical Machining Centre
(VMC) machines, setting jobs, tool selection, machine operation and maintaining the required quality and
production output.

Key Responsibilities

- Operate VMC machines for machining precision components as per production requirements.

- Read and understand engineering drawings, work instructions and machining specifications.

- Perform machine setting, job loading/unloading and tool setting.

- Select appropriate cutting tools, inserts and machining parameters.

- Set and adjust work offsets, tool offsets and machine parameters.

- Operate CNC/VMC machines as per approved programs.

- Understand and perform basic G-code and M-code functions.

- Check dimensions using Vernier caliper, micrometer, height gauge, bore gauge and other measuring
instruments.

- Carry out in-process inspection and ensure components are produced within specified tolerances.

- Identify tool wear and replace or adjust tools as required.

- Make minor program/offset corrections under the guidance of the supervisor/programmer.

- Monitor machine performance and report abnormalities, tool breakage or machine problems.

- Maintain required production quantity and quality standards.

- Follow proper procedures for machine cleaning, lubrication and housekeeping.

- Maintain proper records of production, rejection and machine-related issues.

- Follow 5S, safety procedures and company quality standards.

- Coordinate with Quality and Production teams to resolve machining and quality issues.

- Minimize machine downtime and avoid unnecessary rejection/rework.





- Ensure proper handling and storage of tools, fixtures and components.

Required Skills

- Good practical knowledge of VMC machine operation and setting.

- Knowledge of CNC/VMC machining processes.

- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.

- Knowledge of G-code and M-code.

- Knowledge of tool setting, work offsets and tool offsets.

- Good knowledge of measuring instruments such as Vernier, Micrometer and Height Gauge.

- Understanding of cutting tools, inserts and machining parameters.

- Ability to identify common machining defects and take corrective action.

- Basic knowledge of CNC/VMC machine troubleshooting.

- Valuable attention to dimensional accuracy and quality.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a production team.

Preferred Candidate Profile

- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience as a VMC Operator.

- Experience in precision engineering, sheet metal, automotive or engineering component manufacturing will be
preferred.

- ITI Machinist / Turner / Fitter or Diploma Mechanical candidates will be preferred.

- Candidate should have hands-on experience in VMC machine setting and operation.

- Knowledge of Fanuc/Mitsubishi/Siemens CNC controls will be an added advantage.

- Should be willing to work in shifts, if required.

- Candidate should be willing to work at Silvassa.
